Need some help to get rid of smoke smell
I bought a really nice pair of jeans on Ebay for my husband. When I opened the package the smell of cigarette smoke almost knocked me down! I quit smoking a year ago and now cannot tolerate the smell at all. Yuck! Anyone know a good solution to get rid of the putrid smell? I contacted the seller and they said I could return the jeans and they would give me a "store credit". I don't want to be out all that postage and definately don't want to purchase anything else from them. I have washed them in Gain, used fabric softener and 2 dryer sheets. That didn't really help too much. Any body have any ideas?

Its even worse when you buy something "new" and have to wash them the second they hit your house. I am the same way about smoke smelly clothes...ugh!

you might want to try this Wash the clothing with warm water and one cup of baking soda.
or Spray them with Fabreeze allow them to dry completely, then wash them as usual

That is my suggestion as well. I would even soak them overnight in the baking soda water. I know it will take the soured smell out of clothes. Good luck!

I quit smoking 3 years ago YAY! Anyway....It took several washing of all of my clothes, blankets ...etc to get the smell out. You may just have to wash them a few times and use extra fabric softener and detergent.

When I first read the title (before I clicked on the post) I thought to myself "just quit smoking" My goodness am I sassy these days!
Having said that, I quit almost 6 years ago and I know I had to wash and wash and wash before the smell was gone. I hate when that happens on Ebay. Thats why I always list my auctions as "Come from a SMOKE-FREE home!!!"
Good Luck, let us know what works.

Can you hang them out on a clothes line for a day or 2?
P.S. I just got a Christmas present from a smoker......

If the baking soda doesn't work. Get some OdoBan from Sams Club. That will remove the smell. You can order if offline but it is expensive. Lots cheaper at Sams Club.
I had some afghans that smelled like animals and cigarettes. Throw them in the washer with some odoban and water and let them soak. Let them wash with just the OdoBan. Once it was done with the wash and rinse I rewashed with laundry soap.
