Am I A Germ Freak?
Went to a birthday party this past weekend that my 9 year old son was invited to. When it came time for cake, I couldn't help but notice that the mom was licking her fingers while cutting the cake and using her fingers to pick up the pieces of cake. It kind of turned me off especially since I remembered that she told me that she had been sick and was blowing her nose at the party. I passed on cake. I really do not like other people handling food that way, especially when they are serving it to others. I insist that my kids wash their hands right before they eat, but I tend to forget about the person serving the food. Any opinions?

Thats just gross... sick or not, thats soooo unsanitary. I'm OCD about germs and I would of had to leave.
We had to do a blood born pathagens class 2 weeks ago and I had NO clue that hep b can live for TWO weeks on things like a bathroom sink and stuff... I am freak about lysol, more than ever

just imagine where the food comes from for special school days.....random people you don't know making cupcakes, macaroni and cheese, and the like.........YUK!!

Honestly, I don't think she even realized that she was licking her fingers. I believe that some people so this, and that is fine, BUT when you're serving other people, one should be very aware of sanitary conditions. The other mom there didn't even notice this, so maybe it is something that she doesn't realize or notice either. I am one that always notices things like this when I have to eat what others are preparing. Bottom line....I do not want to get sick because of the carelessness (or stupidity) of others.

I can't even tell you the last time that parents were allowed to send homemade treats to school... I think my 23 y/o was in the 5th grade that last time I sent something.
I used to think it was a stupid rule, but after thinking about it, I'm glad LOL
