FACE Transplants Underway........
I look today in the local newspaper, and I happen to see an article on FACE TRANSPLANTS! I am not sure how to respond to this. It is good for victims of tragic events to have a new start, BUT I am one who would not be able to see one of my previous loved ones face, alive on someone else! It is just creepy!!!! Does anyone remember the movie "Face-Off"? If you do, you see first hand at how creepy this can be...........Whats your opinion on this??

Hi Purplerose, I seen a documentary on this, and they said that because of our bone structures are different, and our muscles aren't the same that the face won't end up looking like the person who donated it. Let's just hope thats true, and I pray that the surgery is a success. Wouldn't that be just awesome if the people who have had their faces burned severely could get a new one if they wanted it!!! I know a few burn victims and the skin they are left with after they heal up is painful, and will rip and tear easy because it's always so taunt.

Re: FACE Transplants Underway........
I agree, Kym..........I do feel happy for the victims, as mentioned above, and am hopeful for them. And yes, I did recall the bone structure differential. I also am hopeful you are right! It would just be scary if it is just like your loved ones though! (Gives me the jitters)...........but hopefully a positive outcome will show!
(I was just hoping I am not the only one alittle squimish of the possible similarities!)...........lol

Re: FACE Transplants Underway........
I think it's a great idea! Overall it would give many people a better chance at life.
It is highly unlikely the recipient would resemble the donor.
I'm sure the rich will take advantage of this proceedure if it's successful.

Re: FACE Transplants Underway........
I also watched a show about it on Discovery Health Channel, adn it was neat what they are gonna be able to do. They said it probably wouldnt even resemble the donor face, because of the bone structure. My nieces boyfriend was burned bad in a fire when he was 10 and now is 33, and he is still in pain from it. So I think that anything that helped a burn patient would be wonderful.

Re: FACE Transplants Underway........
Yeah, they did, but, they didn't show the person that got the new face. I have been waiting to see how it turned out. It should look great.

Re: FACE Transplants Underway........
I saw this as well. I think it's a great alternative for some. I'm hoping the rich won't take advantage of it.
