Why do people think someone else will always pick up their trash? I just spent 30 minutes going around the property picking up trash. It's been windy here and I undertand stuff flies around, but more than half of it had nothing to do with the wind. A couple tenants vacated their units and there was little pieces of trash in front of the doors. But the biggest gripe is the amount of ciggarette butts I picked up. They were not from our tenants, but the apartment complex next door. They just toss them over the fence. It's a really sad thing that because people can't (or don't want to) own a home, they can't respect others property. The boys' bus stop is at that complex, and every morning I am there for 30-45 minutes talking with a few of the moms after the bus leaves. And every morning I see the maintenance guy picking up trash around the complex. Most mornings I see him on the way to the bus stop, and I just think it's really sad that people can be so disrespectful that he has to be out there about a hour every day cleaning up after them. On Mondays it takes him longer (one of the moms says she has to wade through beer cans to get down the stairs after the weekend).
On another note, Lyndon got an air powered spiderman plane for his birthday. Since the package came after his birthday, I let him open it right away. I told him to wait until Daddy got home to play with the plane. Well wouldn't you know, they didn't listen and lost the tail wings that day. THis was early october. So for months that plane sat on the top of a cabinet until we found the piece. A few weeks ago I threw it away because I figured the piece had ended up in the garbage and was long gone. In my trash pick up today (I don't normally take care of the trash, but with all that was left from the 2 vacancies, I decided to do the whole property), I found the tail wings in the planter in the corner of the yard (the planter actually is over the property line). Go figure, lol. With the weather turning and eveything dying, alot of hidden stuff became visible (I found a little pot that had blown off the stand during a severe windstorm a few months ago, lol).
But anyway I had to gripe. I am going to to P.O to mail a package later today. Who wants to commit me after that?
disclaimer-- I'm not saying everybody that doesn't own a home are litterers, but when it comes to where they live, people in low income apartments tend to have less respect. Again, not a claim about everyone, just the rude ones.
