Do you care what happened 35 years ago?

I don't know about you, but I really don't care what happened when Bush was in the National Guard. I don't care what Kerry did in Viet Nam.
Why? Because it happened way too long ago. Not that either event was insignificant, but because it has little to do with what either man represents NOW. It says little about the person they are today.

If you disagree, answer me one question: Are YOU the same person now as you were 35 years ago?

Re: Do you care what happened 35 years ago?

A person's character is built upon by events and experiences from the past.

Do I believe that what happened 35 years ago should be the one thing focused upon? Absolutely not. But it certainly bears consideration when looking at the whole person. It is a piece of the puzzle. If you leave that piece out, the puzzle is not complete. I want to see the total person, to know the bad and the good and make my decision based on complete information.

I am, as are most Americans, intelligent enough to weigh this issue against those that are really important.

I think you care what happened 35 years ago - if you were alive 35 years ago. I was born 35 years ago - so I am glad that happened! LOL!

I really don't give a fig about either of them. As far as your question about if I am the SAME person now as 35 years ago, UMM NO, I WASNT AROUND THEN.

Re: Do you care what happened 35 years ago?

I really don't care about their military records and I really don't understand what's going on with them because I've heard so much tossed around. Last night a radio person said that Bush and his wife both sold drugs or something when they were teens, or something like that. I thought, who the heck cares... I sure don't. I don't like Bush but I really don't see how people can make such a big deal about what he did when he was way younger? It's not like he's doing the happy weed now...

Re: Do you care what happened 35 years ago?

I care...I was just married to my husband when he was in the army during the Viet Nam war....I saw friends go and not come back...my husband was station in Ga. at a fort where all the men who had done tours in View Nam came back waiting to be discharged....I saw first hand what that war did to them and how the civils treated them. My husband was on burial detail and would travel all over the south to bury those who died in combat. To have Kerry go to Viet Nam and then come back and denounce the war rubs me the wrong way. Sorry but it does.
