OMG! Where do these idiots come from?
OK...A little over a week ago, I was in my local Wal-mart. There was this little girl about 2 years old in a cart being pushed by her approx. 10 year old brother. All of a sudden the brother starts going, "OMG! Something is leaking!" The "leak" is coming straight down from underneath the little girl. Well, his yelling caught my attention, so I turned to look. This little girl's diaper was SOOOOO soaked that when she pee'd again, it "leaked" all over! The mother then yells at the little girl "Edited Alexis!", and I say "Edited mom!".....I mean how long was this little girl left in this diaper for it to become so wet that it leaked?!?! (OH, BTW, I could see the diaper because the girl was wearing a dress and the diaper was exposed.) Seriously, my 9 month old wears the same diaper throughout the night when he sleeps, and his diaper does not even become that wet. That is after like 8 or 9 hours straight!
Second scenerio....I was in a local baby/children's consignment store today. There is this lady in there with her 3-4 month old baby. Now when I looked at this baby, I thought for sure it was a boy. I mean the baby was dressed in bib overalls with trucks embroidered on them! When she got up to the counter, she proceeded to tell the clerk that it was a girl! She said she just thinks that little boys' clothes are so much cuter. The clerk said that she thinks there are a lot of cute options available in girls' clothing. The lady goes on to say that it doesn't matter, she isn't old enough to realize or care that she is getting dressed in boys' clothes. I mean this lady just kept on bragging about how proud she was that she was dressing her little girl in boys' clothing! Finally the cashier says, "Well, I just hope you don't turn her into a dyke or anything." The other cashier turns around and yelled at her for saying that. That was when I chirped up and said that I was glad to hear her say it because I was thinking it. I mean talk about giving a child identity crisis!
I just don't understand the mentality of people out there! We wonder why things have gotten the way they have.........
Thanks for listening! Just wanted to vent a little!

Please tell me you are joking. The little girl can be 'turned into a dyke" because she is dressed in boys clothing? I do wonder about the mentality of people too, but not the same people you are referring to.

I do agree with that portion. With people thinking and teaching their children the things you are, it is not wonder "things have gotten the way they have........."

OK, time for my 2 cents.
I can see your point of vent on the first one, a childs diaper should not get that bad, period!
BUT on 2nd one I have to 'chirp' myself dressing your child in boy clothes does not give them an Identity crisis, I dress like a boy for most of my life ( and still do) and I know im a woman and so does anyone that looks at me, also, my dad grew up wearing dresses up untill he was about age 5 because his mom couldnt afford both dresses and slacks for all the kids, same in my moms family. does that mean they are dikes or gay? please,
I would hope that some people were more open minded than to think a pair of pants makes a person who they are while they are growing up.
Like I said, my 2 cents. opinions are like......... you know the rest.

The 1st vent, yeah, that's pretty sad that she let the child go without changing her diaper.
The 2nd vent.....
The other cashier SHOULD have said something! The comment about "turning her into a dyke" was rude and very unprofessional, beside being ignorant!

Re: OMG! Where do these idiots come from?
the first vent with the little girl and that diaper...omg who would leave their child in a soaking wet diaper and yet curse at the poor thing because she went to the bathroom, well if the mother payed more attention and changed the diaper instead of leaving it soaked it wouldnt have leaked..talk about irresponsible parent.
The second vent, well i guess that mother prolly wanted a boy more than a girl that shes dressing her in boys clothing, i believe their are a lot of cute outfits out there for little grils especially the little dresses...or maybe the mother is a undercover dyke...lol

Re: OMG! Where do these idiots come from?
i see the point of the first vent no kid should be left in a wet diaper that long
as for the second vent I am one of those people that had a girl (after being told it was a boy) and will admit I didn't feel like getting rid of the clothes so I used them _ however I did make a point to only do that around those who knew us.. even when she wore pink though she looked like a boy dressed as a girl cause she was so bald LOL

Re: OMG! Where do these idiots come from?
The first part is just down right sad. I mean, it only takes a minute (if that) to change a babies diaper. I have a 9 month old myself and would NEVER let her diaper get that way. I wouldn't care if I had to put paper towels on her. She would not be sitting in pee like that. Thats nasty and could cause infections.
Now for the second part... I don't think that dressing her in boys clothes will turn her into a "dyke". If that had been me that the clerk said that too... well she would have been picking herself up off the floor as I was walking out the door. That was just down right rude. When I got pregnant with and had my daughter my husband had been laid off of work for that whole year and money was tight. I also had a 3yr old that I had clothes left over from and yes, I used them on my little girl when I had no other choice. I did have girl stuff too but not much and when those things were dirty, she wore her brothers old clothes. I didn't put things on her that had trucks on them but you could easily tell they were for a boy. I'd like to think that my daughter is fine even though she had to wear boys clothes at one time.
Maybe this woman was the same way? Maybe she couldn't afford little girl clothes so she used what she had/could. Maybe she thought that if she said things that way people wouldn't think bad of her. Who knows.

Both of the 'dyke' comments are ignorant, uncalled for, crude and discriminatory. We as a people need to foster tolerance--or keep our mouths shut.

Re: OMG! Where do these idiots come from?
Yes the diaper should have been changed long ago.
As far as boys clothes. My first born was a boy and I saved everything. My second child was a girl. Money was tight at the time and my daughter wore mostly boy clothes while she was little. I was a stay at home mom so no one saw her anyway. If I was going out shopping I would try to put girls clothes on here but not always possible. When I did buy her clothes though it was girls clothing. And I don't think being dressed in boys clothes is going to change her. It didn't effect my daughter.

Re: OMG! Where do these idiots come from?
If it was meant as a joke, it is a bad one.
I too took it as a statement that clothes make the sexuality. And that the mom is a bad mom for dressing her child in them.
The mom can dress her child in anything she wants. Once we stop labeling sexuality based on clothing, perhaps the world will accept people better.
And, having one of each gender... I can say my son always like pick as a baby, so I dressed him daily with a touch of pink somewhere on him... he is not gay. He is currently seeingthe school mascot (who is a girl) And my daughter would wear army boots and fatigues if she had them. She is still little, but has the biggest (and cutest) crush on Toby Keith. Used to be Geraldo Rivera
