Has anyone else heard this?
I heard an interview on the radio this morning with two guys who said that they were just rotated home from Iraq- they claim that 21 soldiers have commited sucide over there due to the stress of being there, not getting home when promised, not getting paid, worrying about how their families were managing, etc. They said the government (Bush) has imposed a black out on this information. Has anyone else heard anything like this?

They had a big article in yesterday's paper about the number of suicides that are taking place and how it is higher than normal. Of course it has to do with stress. But it also has to do with men. Men will rarely admit to being stressed out or depressed. They just think that they can deal with things. And when it gets too bad, and they are breaking down, and their brains are sending all sorts of weird messages, they will attempt suicide. And they are far more successful than women or kids.
Depression and stress is a horrible illness. Men think that they can cope and they have a "I'll get over it" attitude or they feel that from their peers and superiors. The sad part is that when you are that stressed out, you don't cope and you don't get over it. And when you least expect it, the demons inside will tell you to take your life and if you can't break the cycle and get help you will take your life.

Sun News/January 15, 2004...Matt Kelley/The Associated Press
Dr. William Winkenwerder, assistant secretary of defense for health affairs, said the militray has documented 21 suicides during the 2003 Iraq war. Eighteen of those were army soldiers. That's a suicide rate for soldiers in Iraq of about 13.5 per 100,000, Winkenwerder said.

The article also said a special team had been set up in Ft. Bragg, NC to deal with increase in soldiers returning who killed their wives and then themselves. However, no mention was made of a black out by Bush and everybody knows how much I like his smirking grin plastered all over the place!
But, I do have an in-grown toenail that I know Bush is responsible for somehow. I'll let you know when I figure it out.

If you don't like my posts Tech you can just ignore them and use the back button instead of constantly quoting things I say that you don't like. I think that goes for you as well as us "other members".
