RUINED X-MAS My car was broken into, there goes my purse and credit cards
I am so heartbroken my purse got stolen, all of my money, my credit cards ((debit cards actually)) have been stolen, as well as my christmas present from my mother in law, we stopped in to visit with my SIL and someone smashed in my passenger side window in BROAD daylight, took my purse, stole my radio and my two CDs I had in my car, I didnt realize that I had left my purse in the car that had everything for the rest of the month. I dont know what to do although I can get reissued debit cards the cash that was in it can never be replaced. I cant believe I was so stupid, I can almost bang my head against the wall, we called the cops and made a report but no one saw or heard anything, so I dont think that they will ever get caught. I dont know what I am going to do for the rest of the month and I dont get paid until the 15th on NEXT month. This is my last week on the job and assignments have been slow because of christmas I am just so stressed our christmas is ruined

I am very sorry to hear about the theft. I had some thievery happen to me this holiday season and it is so sad to think people have to stoop that low as to steal from others. Sending warm hugs your way.

A purse or briefcase should never be left in a car.
Lets hope someone else can learn from your unfortunate mistake.
I only take my credit and debit cards with me IF I know for sure I'm going to use them. I never carry my Social Security number with me at all. I have all the phone numbers for reporting my cards stolen in the back of my address book.
I never leave CDs where they can be seen from outside the vehicle either. It's just too tempting for a smash and grab artist
You should never leave your purse in a shopping cart either!
Always have it zipped and your hand on it at all times.
Crooks always look for the easiest target. Don't make yourself it!

I am so sorry for you...there are such mean people out there! I agree with WG, you should NEVER leave anything of value in a car, they did a show on TV showing how thieves break in a car, it takes just basically a tap on the window and POP it breaks, they grab and run, all in like 15 seconds...amazing! also, she's right about grocery carts too, if I have my purse in the child seat thing, I always TIE my purse strap to the cart handle and STILL keep an eye on it...

Sorry to hear about this!
Of course I am sure you've contacted your credit card companies - By the way are you one of those people who carry their social security card around in their purse/wallet also ? If so I would consider contacting each of the three national credit beareau's and having them place a frad alert on your credit file. This will prevent any banks/lenders from opening any new accounts in your name without first contacting you. You can visit www.experian.com www.transunion.com and www.equifax.com for more information. Although I doubt the theif will try to open new accounts in your name, you just never know.
