Question Jehovah's Witnesses question, and help

Hi, I need a little help. I'm a co-room mom for my son's class. This is my first time hosting a class party(Christmas). There are 2 little girls in his class that are JW. He told me that they have to leave the room anytime there is a celebration. I feel real bad(though I know it is their religion), that they have to miss out on the fun. What I'm wondering, is there anything I can give them(snacks or games, something), to take with them, while they wait, that won't be bad?? I'm not trying to be disrespectful, maybe its just my ignorance?? Help!

I think if it were me,I would ask the childrens parents what would be ok.They may be very happy that you did.Its outstanding of them not to ask the whole class to do without the celebrations because of their childrens different beliefs, very considerate of them

I agree with Merry. Talk with the parents. They would probably be glad you are thinking of their kids and showing them and their religion respect.

I sure hate the JW faith when it comes to children. It's so unfair to force them to not celebrate with their peers....their religion is not their choice. My neice lived with her parents until she was 7 and never had a Christmas or a birthday until she came to live with us. That's just unfair. That's really all I have to say......please don't think I'm bashing anyone who is JW.....I just think it's unfair to burden children with all that baggage.

Our school has detoured from having parties with any reference to religious holidays. Instead of a Halloween party, they call it a Harvest party. Christmas is referred to Winter party. They really try to keep things generic so that everyone can participate.

Thank you, and thank you everyone I guess I was lucky, as in I called the parents, to ask their suggestions, and they both were going to pull their children out before the party started(it was a late party, started at 2)and they did.

May the peace of the Lord be with you all in 2004!!!
