We Had a LONG Talk Tonight with DD - Big Big Forums

{{{Danny****** and {{{{everyone****** that replied, or are follwing this story. We had a LONG talk with DD tonight-it all came out, and she knows what she is dealing with now and alot made sense to her. She said she is relieved to know why she has the feelings that she does, why she has been working so hard at her grades and still struggling, etc.. She is not opposed to med either, after we explained it all to her. We have a very open and loving relationship, always could talk before this. So it was very refreshing to both her and us to actually sit down without the huffing and puffing, rolling eyes etc..Again, as mentioned before, the counselor still has to see her a few more times before making the diagnosis. Also while answering all the questionnaires and ALL the tests and paperwork, we have also found that I too, may have ADD, which explains alot!! At any rate, things have calmed down somewhat here for the time being. She loves the counselor, and trusts her. AND she can't wait to go back, a very positive thing.
Thank you so much for the pm's, emails, cards and prayers...I can't tell you how much it all has meant for me. It is truly a family here for me!! This has been so hard dealing with NOT KNOWING what the heck was going on. Now we know. I feel like I am forgetting something, but I will just have to end this here for now. I will keep everyone posted.
Oh, and Danny, she knows about BBS, but she would never come here, and when she is on the internet, which has alot of things blocked, I am with her.

Are you sure she doesn't access it from her friend's houses or the library or from school? If I were a kid and found out my parents had my whole life up for scrutany by people I don't know - there would be h*ll to pay! And kids are devious about finding things out. I hope all works out for you all.

I understand that - I just worry about what will happen if her daughter sees all of what has been written about her here - it could undo all the good that counseling may do.
I have teenagers myself and they are very fragile at that age and to see her life discussed by strangers (to her) may be very counterproductive.
I am not criticizing - only trying to see things from all views. Don't mind me - I will be quiet now.
