I just got this email from a friend of mine (it was a forward) and there is a file that fits the description....???????????
"i am really sorry to inform you that your inclusions in my address book may have caused a possible virus to be placed on your computer. A virus was passed on to me by a contact who was kind enough to let me know. my address book has been automatically infected. since you are in my address book, there is a good chance you will find it on your computer also. The virus called jdbgmgr.exe is Not detected by Norton or McAfee Anti-virus system. the virus, allegedly sits for 14 days before damaging the system. it is sent automatically by messenger and by the address book, WHETHER OR NOT you sent e-mails to your contacts.
to infect, no action was needed by me or by you. i received the message below to remove a file from my computer
i followed the directions below and erased the virus easily. please take a few minutes to search your computer as described below. here's how to check for virus and get rid of it
1. go to Start, find or search option
2. in the file/folders option, type the name jdbgmgr.exe
3. be sure you search your C:drive and all subfolders and drives you may have
4. click find
5. the virus has a teddy bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe DON'T OPEN IT
6. go to edit (on the menu bar)(right click on your mouse) and select delete it will then go to the recycle bin.
7. go to the recycle bin abd delete it there as well
if you find the virus, you must contact all the people in your address book so they can erase it in their own address books.
to do this,
open a new email message
click the icon of the address book next to the "to"
highlight every name and add to "BCC"
copy this message, enter subject ,paste to email. send
So sorry. didn't know i had it. glad the sender let me know and gave me instructions on how to correct it
hope you had a reasly great day before you got this e-mail"
If anyone has heard of this, please let me know????
Thanks in advance
