I know my grade school had them. When I was in 10th grade I went and got my yearbook only to find they forgot my picture!! I am nowhere in that dang book not even candid shots. I asked the teacher in charge and she said well you still have 2 more years don't worry about it. Well about 2 weeks after school ended I moved from VA to MI on short notice. Soooo there was no next year there for me there. So I understand how you daughter feels.

I am going to e-mail the principal this morning. I was going to go in but I woke up with the stomach flu (ought to go give it to them!). I am so sick of this school. It is so disorganized. One of my Girl Scout mom's is friends with the assistant superintendent of schools. He told us that our school is the worst in the district and that they have had so many complaints about it this year they are thinking about cleaning house and replacing everyone there!

Oh and to top it off I found out this morning I was wrong about Yearbooks. They are $10.00 each before March 15, $12.00 each after that. And if you aren't a PTA member they are $12 before March 15 and $14 after!

I am going to talk to her teacher when she gets back from jury duty (she told the kids that it might be a month or two-- wonder what jury she is on). I have to see what kids are allowed and aren't allowed to have their pics taken. I e-mailed the principal. I don't know if she is in today or not so I don't know when I will hear from her.

Thanks again everyone for listening!

I would be too embarassed to throw up in her office. Instead I sent her an e-mail and then forwarded a copy of it to the superintendent, the assistant superintenedent, the photo company, and the state PTA (since the PTA is in charge of photos at our school). I told her that if this had been an isolated incident that I might not be as angry as I am. I also told her I think it really stinks that they went and got the one little girl for pics and forgot my dot and the other little boy. Of course the little girl they went and got has an insane mother. She is the one I had to ban from Girl Scout meetings cause she cussed out a kid at a meeting. DH says they are probably afraid to make her mad. I am through being nice I am pi$$ed now and they are going to take care of this.

Angry

I think you should argue until your daughter gets a chance to take a picture with her friends or at least get your money back. How the heck can somebody remember to take somebody's money for the picture but not the student! Last year in elementary or middle school is important because that can probably be the last time you get to see all your friends. I hope your daughter gets a chance to be in the yearbook!

I feel for you. My daughters school is run by idiots too
It makes you want to scream and homeschool! Right now the ONLY reason I don't homeschool is so my daughter can have friends. We live out of town. The only kids next door are a lot younger than her.
I already won't allow her to ride the bus (don't get me started on what I think of buses).
In the state of Indiana, if your running a daycare, you can't have more than 5 (I think) children per adult. Why can a teacher have 29 in a class? If a babysitter can't watch 6 children, how can a teacher teach 29?
THEY CAN'T and my daughters grades prove it! She woulden't know basic math if I did not help her. So really I AM homeschooling. So does every other parent here that wants their kids to know anything.

The principal said that they are going to take a picture of the entire class as soon as the teacher comes back. They will then have it enlarged for my daughter and the little boy who missed the picture.

Im glad that the principal agreed to have another pic taken. Just make sure that they stick to it. If the teacher is gone for a month, it can easily slip their mind.

I won't let her forget. I can see her trying something like that too. If worse comes to worse I will go take the pic myself, have it enlarged, and then submit a bill to the superintendent.

The schools my boys go to are extremely disorganized. My son is in the gifted program at the local highschool. They are always forgetting to make announcements. Two years in a row now, he has been left out of Beta Club because of no announcements. Even though he asked all his friends, teachers, and the office when he was supposed to join--nobody knew. So by the time they actually announced meetings, it was too late to join. So here is my gifted son with a 4.0 average, and he hasn't been able to join Beta, yet. I went in and spoke to the principal about it and of course he told me, "there's always next year." I said that's what they told him last year. He didn't get to retake his pictures either because they waited until retake day to announce it, and he didn't have his picture package with him to turn in so that he could retake them. So now he's going to have that awful picture of him in his yearbook. I called Lifetouch (that stupid picture company) and told them about it, and they said there was nothing I could do about it except mail the pictures back to them for a refund. This is the worst company! I don't know why all the schools deal with them. What's really weird is that they never sent my oldest son's pictures to his school. So I had to call them and have them sent to me. Then of all things, a couple of weeks later, my younger son came home to tell me that his pictures weren't amongst his classmates. So I had to call the company. It seems that they just didn't get around to printing his and would send them to me later. How likely is that out of both schools here, both of my sons' pictures were left out? And my son's middle school yearbook costs $25. They are hardback books, and they put all this stupid stuff in it just so they can charge us more. About 2/3 of the book is just idiotic stuff that my son would rather not have in there. It really is irritating.
