Sick Hubby

Tuesday afternoon my Hubby had a tooth extracted. He only had a novacaine because he didn't want to have to pay the extra $200.00 for anesthesia. It was a tooth way in the back. The Dentist had to dig to get all the root out. I guess it broke. 7 hours later he started vomiting and hasn't had anything to eat. If he does drink it comes up. The Dentist gave him an R/X for Pennicycillin and Vicodin. He filled the antibiotic but not the pain medication. I went out yesterday morning and asked the Druggist what she reccomended for the vomiting. She said Emitrol. He had a half glass of ginger ale and up it came. I will try giving him some more Emitrol later. The only time he drinks is with the meds. All he does is sleep. His face is sooooo bruised and swollen. I can't believe it! He had a back tooth out 10 years ago and this didn't happen.
Has anyone ever had a similar experience?
Thanks for reading this, sorry if I rambled. I am exausted

I had a tooth "dug" out in dec., I didn`t have vomiting, but I had excruciating, I mean excruciating pain for about 3 weeks after, not even the strongest pain meds they gave me helped, and did nothing but drink chocolate milk for that amount of time. I would call the dentist, let him know what is happening, he may want to stop the antibiotic for awhile??? Maybe he has the stomach flu going around??? I hope he feels better soon, please call the dentist, though.

Some pain meds can also cause nausea. My DH had hernia surgery in Nov, 2001. He had some pain meds prescribed and then was nauseous for 2 days before we realized it was the meds. I would call an MD about all of this, if I were you, or the pharmacist, and make sure the drugs he is taking are not conflicting.

Thanks soooo very much (((Everyone))). It was so nice of you all to take the time to respond to our predicament here He hasn't taken any pain meds at all. Right now he has managed to keep a half cup of ginger ale down in the last hour *****! If he isn't a lot better tonight I will drag him if need be to see a Dr. He is very bad when it comes to seeing any Dr. I guess it's a man thing The bruising and swelling is the worst I have ever seen though

MusicfanAnnie is on a distinguished road
When I had my 4 wisdom teeth removed all at the same time...I was knocked out and put to sleep and woke up feeling alright when everything was done and over with..Then went home and tried to take it easy. I then had to vomit ...and all this blood came up from the surgery!! My face later looked like a chipmunk and it started to hurt like hell. I was not feeling well at all for at least 2 to 3 weeks, I was told later that my wisdom teeth were so impacted...the surgeon almost could not remove them...So if you need your wisdom teeth removed...Do It and don't put it off. Also call your doctor when problems arise...and let them know right away. None of the pain meds helped me and the pain I had was the worst EVER!!!! Hope you're husband feels better soon...it takes awhile..Sleep and resting is the key. Take care!
