Thread: Followup whine, UTI from hell

Gosh called the Dr today because I am still having symptoms, he asked me to come in. Did a urine specimen and it still did not show up anything, they convinced me to send off the culture because they were concerned. They ended up giving me another set of antibiodics and told me to go to a urologist, I have never heard of going to a specialist after just 7 days on antibiodics, that is INSANE.

I would wait and see what the culture shows before going to another doctor. Hopefully this round will knock it out.

I can't remember, do you have a husband or a SO? If yes, it wouldn't hurt to have him tested too. He could be giving you your UTI back.

Cipro should have knocked-out a UTI in a few days. With your cultures coming back negative I think your doctor may be concerned that something else is wrong hence him wanting you to see a urologist.

That's what I was going to say. Your test keeps coming back negative so obviously he thinks something else is going on which is why he wants the specialist.

the last time I had a uti it came back negative, twice. I was on septra, then cipro. I know that this sounds dumb, but I was really itching and buring so bad that I could not stand it, I went to the store and got one of those strong things for a yeast infection, and I felt better right away.

Could be kidney stones or worse. Go to the urologist. I had symptoms of UTI including blood in my uring. When antibiotics didn't fix it they sent me to a urologist. He found and treated the problem.

I've had that happen to me too. I get so many UIT's that my doctor just writes a preventive prescription for me to keep on hand because, as my luck goes, I get my UTI's over the weekend. Wegmans fills antibiotics for free.

Just got the culture test results, I do have a UTI that didnt show up on the urinalysis. They say to continue the antibiodics and keep up with the fluids and cranberry
