Ppl who make fun of other ppls phobias, especially family who makes fun of phobias
I have always had a bit of a dental phobia, I have always had bad teeth, I have always went to the dentist as often as I could and brushed and flossed 3x a day without fail, always. When I lost my previous job, I lost my dental benefits and my ability to go to the dentist on a regular basis. Since then, I have been to the dentist 3x for dental fillings, the last time I had a super deep filling that was formerly an abscessed tooth, I was treated with antibiotic and a week later and pain pills and then received the filling. I swear to God, I did not numb up totally and I could FEEL the pain, he gave me five shots of novicane and it still hurt, but he said it was my imagination and kept going. Now, I am terrified on dentists. I am in the process of trying to get a broken tooth out, and I am terrified, so terrified when I went in I started having a panic attack, something I have NEVER done. Everyone I speak to things my phobia is stupid and unfounded, maybe it is, but it is so real I could have sworn I was having a heart attack and there was Grey spots dancing in front of my eyes when he tilted me back. I need to have two teeth removed and 4 fillings, so I am so sick to my stomach just thinking of it. I started crying and he gave me a prescription to help with the anxiety, but everyone just tells me to get over it and that it was a fact of life. OK end of rambling

If I had felt when the dentist was drilling darn right I'd be having panic attacks when I went back again. You're not being silly, if they had felt what you did they'd be telling you how they were panicing too. But what I've found out in going to doctors and dentists is the nervousness and fear of the unknown is worse than what happens.. You might not ever have that experience again hopefully. I'd go because it sounds like you have problems that need fixing. Do it on a wait and see. This time the pain killer might work like its supposed too. And don't listen to people they can make a situation worse sometimes.

I have to tell you,i have major panic attacks every time i go to the dentist-why i dont know,as he has never hurt me,but when i get in the seat,my heart starts racing and i just know like you i'm gonna have a heart attack-but i never do,thats a good thing-sometimes i think we just get scared something could go wrong, and that makes us go into attacks.
Now as far as you feeling your dentist doing the work, are you sure it wasnt hearing the tooth be pulled or filled? And if not, then tell the guy more meds, cause it hurts.and if he says no,then somethings wrong with him
and just so you know=everyone, and i mean everyone has at least one phobia about something, maybe not enough to have an attack, but enough to scare them.
Good luck to you, hope everything works out good, for you

This is me and you are not crazy. You need to find a dentist who takes you seriously and is patient. I need more than 5 shots of novacaine....my teeth are that sensitive. Who wouldn't have a panic attack knowing they will be drilled without enough anesthesia? Again, you are not crazy.
As far as getting a tooth pulled, I had to have that done, no big deal really...it's nothing like the drilling pain just more of a pressure and then it's over. From the sound of it, yours would be over rather quickly.
So find a better dentist. Another alternative is to be put to sleep, have all your dentistry done and then wake up. I had a tooth abscess so bad a few years back that the oral surgeon had to knock me out. I woke up a happy person and it was done. There are dentists who will do this for more minor work.
Bottom line, you are not crazy, your teeth are sensitive and you just need the right dentist. Good luck.

I would also find another dentist. My last dentist would give me Valium to take before each visit. Loved him

i completely understand..
they CANNOT... numb my teeth.. they've drilled through my tooth and put shots directly into the nerves and it didn't worth.. dentist told me they are called "HOT TEETH".. I HAD 13 SHOTS AND NITROS AND STILL FELT IT COME OUT.....
i hate the dentist and until a tooth is hurting me worse than the dentist is gonna, i refuse to go.

The dentist really sucks.
I had an absessed tooth last year that was so bad, the infection spread through half my face, and paralyzed it.
I went to have it removed after 5 days on antibiotics, and I could not be numbed.
I told the oral surgeon this, and he just dug in my mouth and started pulling it anyway
I was screaming "pain" the entire time, but he kept at it.
It was a root canal tooth, so it broke like 3 times.
I just laid there screaming, since I knew he had to get the rest out.
When he was done, I told him I was not numb at all during the whole process, and all he said was "good thing it was a tooth near the front" WTH?
I'm so scared now.
I feel your pain, we all will say a prayer for ya.
Hugs

You arent alone.I have had 3 teeth pulled and each time scared the crap out of me.I dont know how many shots he gives me but its probably more then five.I also have to remind him to make sure he gives me a couple shots in my gum where the tooth is being pulled or worked on.

I completely understand where you are coming from. I have had one dentist and one dental assistant tell me "oh that didn't hurt" when I cried out. Thankfully when I had all my teeth removed I was asleep... but when I went back to get the stitches removed is the second time I was told it didn't hurt. I refused to let her touch me ever again.
I used to be petrified of the dentist too... I have no reason to be now that I am toothless... but don't let those ppl talk to you that way. Tell them when they act that way that it's not ok to dismiss you like that!
