There are MANY here in WV that know how to work the system, some being my family. All you gota do is be lazy, drink, do drugs, and boy you can get everything you need, and more, but if you have worked, just forget getting any help. I do not care to help anyone, but only if they are helping them selves, but don't expect me to pay for you health ins. while you lay around all day, and with for the mail man.

Not all of us did or do agree with that and that 'logic' just makes 2 wrongs, not a right...and puts us in an even bigger hole.

I think a lot of us would like to help 'our own' especially the ones who really need and work for it....but this 'plan' is not the only one and many don't agree with this 'plan' being implemented. That's the problem.

What I dont understand is how kids get SSI because they have a disability? I can see if its medically, but when it is bipolar, emotionally impaired, learning disability how does it cost more to raise them then a child with out those problems. When I say medically I am meaning like surgeries, medications to help with a physical problem. I see families that get SSI for all their kids because they have learning disabilities, but do they take them to the doctors, get glasses when they need them so many times I can answer no to that. Then also wheres the daddys why doesnt the gov. make these woman name the father if they cant then they dont need assistance!
I feel for people who try try try and cant get ahead, cant afford insurance, these are the people that need help with it cant our government see that!

I agree. I heard of a kid who got SSI for a lisp. What a joke. Speech classes are given free in the public schools.

My husband's cousin got SSI on both her girls because they were tongue tied, I know that for a fact. One of a cousin of mine get's it on his little girl because she was low birth weight. The child is healthy as can be now, requires no extra doctor's office trips.

True..however I would argue the personal responsibility thing went out the window a looong time ago.

Maybe not qualifying for insurance till after a probationary period. Couldn't afford to keep the cobra any longer. And while this all happens you get diagnosed with cancer. In a free fire state like here in Georgia, you will most likely lose your job. I watched my daughters best friend lose her mother at 15 because she actually chose not to fight anymore for treatment. She felt as though she was worth more dead than alive, and she didn't wan't her husband to lose his carpenty business and file complete bankruptcy. Not everything is accessible for everyone. Most of us do what we have to do. But in this day and age, in this country, we should not have to make that type of a decission. Count yopr blessings.
Please do not take this as a personal attack. It is not meant that way. This is only my opinion.
A really great example however I'm not sure by this post if you are for socialized medacine?

I am more apt to think the system we had should be re-tooled and tweeked. I have to say I am happy that they aregoing to allow us to keep our children on our current insurance longer. My daughter works and goes to school, and can barely afford car insurance let alone health. My grandaughter is on the state plan, because she cannot be on mine. And before anyone says anything, we have been waiting for over a year for child support to do thier job, and that is with having every piece of information that was needed at the beginning. I haven't always had a good job and insurance. I have even been in the position of having to sign a waiver of insurance in order for fellow emloyees to be able to get it. This was at a new job that was getting new insurance, and I was pregnant with gestational diabetes. My husband had to drop me off at Grady Hospital in Atlanta every monday morning for clinic at 7:00 am, and he would pick me up at 6 pm when he got off of work. I did not qualify for assistance. I'm not saying it should be easy for anyone. Apparently it already is for those in the know. But children should never suffer, regardless of thier parents. I know I could have quit work at that time and played dumb. I chose not to, and ended up with a $ 23,000 letter of demand. Yes they reduced it later, but we made payments for several years.

azwup05 I would not say anything is it your fault that you cant get child support for your grand child sounds like you have done what needs to be done. The states need to revamp all this insurance stuff instead of making it worse. Why should it take the courts so long to get paper work done for child support. Why is their so much fraud with medicaid, welfare etc if they would fix those problems wouldnt we beable to help those that cant pay it with all the saving s there oh and not to forget the illegals that are getting assistance that just blows my mind!!!
