    gallbladder surgery sux!

I had my gallbladder out 11 days ago. I thought I'd be feeling alot better by now. I was sent home w/ one restriction....make no financial or personal decisions for 24 hours. Everything else was "as tolerated". I've had stabbing pains under my ribs (that went away after a few days) so bad it hurt to take a deep breath. NOw, this morning I wake up with a stabbing pain on my right side, waist line area. I have 5 holes, an extra due to a dye test for hidden stones. Now, the incision mid chest between the boobs is very red and had a little drainage if I pushed at it. Very sore.
I still cannot lie flat or on either side, still sleeping in the recliner. Hurts too bend alittle and twisting at the waist is painful still.

I saw the surgeon 8 days after surgery because of the breathing pain issue. SHe reran a bunch of labs and they were all fine, so she ruled out a hidden stone.

I guess a "band aid" surgery makes it sound like a simple little thing.

Just venting, cuz I still feel under par. poo!

Sounds like you have an infection. I had my gall bladder removed where they make the small incisions. I went home in two days. Not much pain at all. I had one stone and had my gall bladder removed. The stone was almost an inch big the doctor said. My doctor couldn't believe I hadn't had any pain with it. They found the stone when they did an ultrasound for an abcess I had. I hope you get to feeling better. Its not fun at all when you're in pain. I hope you heal fast. Do you have a problem with your stomach tearing up when you eat or drink. Its been over eight years and I'm still having that problem. I was scared to go out and eat because no sooner than I ate I had to go to the bathroom.

Sounds like there is an infection in that insision. You may need to have it rechecked. In that amount of time you should be able to lay flat now. I had mine removed 11 yrs ago. 30 days after a c-section. Came home the same day, couldn't lift dd for 2 weeks so they said. Yes the bathroom thing is part of gallbladder being removed. Me and my mamma sometimes race to the bathroom after eating.

yep, i had the laproscopic surgery too....surgery was at 9am and I was home by 2 that afternoon. NO more than opened my eyes and took a drink and they were pulling my clothes on to get me out the door! I had 2 stones and an inflammed gallbladder. Before surgery I had 3 days of "uncomfortable" side ache....didn't stop me from doing my daily routine or anything. But I googled the pain and figured it was gallbladder so I went to the dr who ordered an ultrasound and saw the stones...so he said to get it out now before it is so painful I can't move.

No problems yet with eating or the restroom. I didn't have any problems before surgery either. I am praying I'm one of them who lose wt after surgery and not GAIN, but I know I won't be that lucky.

I can lay flat, but I'm not comfortable. I've always been a side sleeper and there is no way I can do that (right side too!) THe rolling over is quite tender too, from side to side. (I have a fat tummy that rolls with me! lol!)

Think I'll go into the clinic in the morning and get a dr to look at it. and get some antibiotics.

I had my gallbladder remover 3 yrs ago & my right side still hurts. (I also had my appendix removed due to a screw up on the surgeons part.) I've been told by 5 different doctors - it's scar tissue. I'm not buying it.
Don't worry about what people think. They don't do it very often.

My daughter had her gall bladder removed about 5 years ago. The first week she was really sore and had pain. They gave her pain medicine to help.
She still gets what feels like gall bladder attacks. They aren't near as often, bad or last long like they used to.

I've had problems with my gallbladder ever since I had Scarlett. I usually have a attack every few weeks. The last one lasted almost 30 hours. I've been putting off having mine removed because it is just basically my husband and myself and we would literally have zero help.

I'm so sorry your having problems, hope they can tell you something and your feeling better soon! Gentle hugs to you!

If the drainage on the incision is anything but clear I would be calling the Dr. I had a problem with drainage from a bone graph (from where they took the bone) and I panicked and called the Dr at midnight. He said if it was clear and did not smell bad to not worry. Thankfully I just pushed on it and got it all out and never had another problem. He said it was very common to get some drainage.

I'm sorry you're feeling so bad and I hope you start to feel better soon.

I had my gallbladder out 11 years ago. I felt cruddy for the first few days and had pain for about a week or so. I have problems with food and needing the bathroom if I eat foods that have a lot of fat/grease in them.

Well, the dr said it looked infected (two of the five incisions) and gave me an antibiotic. No more drainage (never was alot anyhow), just very red around it and the scab is kinda greenish and icky (sorry for TMI!). She asked if I felt better now that it was out and I told her HECK no! I feel worse! lol!
