    Thumbs down 19 Viacom channels may be pulled tonight.

    A dispute between Time Warner Cable and Viacom may result in Time Warner Cable customers losing Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central and 16 other channels unless the two sides can reach an agreement. Time Warner Cable tells the Associated Press that Viacom is demanding programming rate increases of between 22 percent and 36 percent per channel, a hike Time Warner calls "exorbitant." "Basically we're trying to hold the line for our customer," insists the cable company. But the operator goes on to note that part of the dispute is that Viacom won't share revenue from online video

    All yesterday, we had a scroll across our TV saying this may happen, and to stop it by Demanding that Time Warner keep the channels. If an agreement is not made then those channels will be cut off at midnight.

    I am so mad. Go figure they are the channels that my family watches the most.

    Sounds like its between Time Warner and Viacom, I don't think they have anything to do with Direct.

    We have this message scrolling across the bottom of our screen on some of the channels too and we don't have Time Warner. I'm guessing that the individual channels (TV Land, Nickelodeon, etc.) are running these and not the cable company. I hope we don't lose them, these are the channels we watch the most too.

    Hmm, I wonder if we'll see that too. The kids didn't watch Nick today, and now they are playing their video game time, so we'll have to wait until later to see.

    I could stand losing Nick, but Comedy Central would suck, we watch that channel all the time.

    I can see the issue for the tv service providers. Many people, like us, are in one to two year contracts so the providers would eat the fees until contracts were up.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    This is probably the real issue. I can remember 4 years ago when Time Warner raised our rates over 2 months early (they would usually raise them in January) then hearing of a huge contribution to the inaguration events.
    And us customers are supposed to believe they are looking out for us? I think not.
    Call in and complain thats the only way we can save the channels!!!
    MTV Networks wants to pull programming from your cable lineup.
    We at Bright House Networks want you to know that MTV Networks may pull Nickelodeon, MTV, VH-1, Spike, TV Land, Comedy Central and other channels from your channel lineup at midnight tonight.
    We are negotiating earnestly, honestly and fairly with MTV Networks, but so far MTV Networks has refused to give us an extension.
