Just found out that the company that supplies the fuel can get it but we would have to jack prices well beyond 5 dollars people here can not afford that so it will just sit in the tanks. And it will have to come from another state...so imagine the fuel surcharge to bring it here.....YIKES!!!!
Damn that sucks! So far where I live the prices are just about $4.17 so not too good, also not horrible.
No shortages as of yet either.

we're having trouble getting unbranded gas here. you can get some branded gas(chevron, exxon). we're having to go to kenner, la to get shell branded gas. diesel is a little easier to get.

My inlaws in North Carolina said cheap gas is $5.29/gallon. They filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office in their state.
Yesterday gas here was $3.69/gallon. I don't know how people who make minimum wage make it.

I live in South Carolina near Charlotte, NC and gas here is $3.79 a gallon but if you go 20 minutes up the road to Charlotte you will pay anywhere from $4.50 to $5.99 a gallon. And some gas stations keep raising the prices so people will stop buying it. Not sure what they are going to do. I am just glad that I work 5 minutes from home.

^ I live in Charlotte and I haven't seen prices like that. Most stations are 3.99-4.29 for regular but most stations around here are out completely.

a lot of platforms are damaged, and those that aren't are unmanned out in the gulf right now. the company that supplies drilling supplies and equipment has only one houston location open today, and they have a lot of storm damage at their sites and not all of their people can make it in to work anyway. but they are doing what they can to get drilling (and deep space for that matter) back online. Plus, a lot of the local refineries are not able to get gas out of town, they are on the side of town that was hit hardest.
As they start producing again and Houston gets rolling the rest of the US should see some gas relief. Maybe. Hopefully.
if your geo area buys from refineries located elsewhere, you might not see it so bad, unless they are redistributing to cover losses from houston refineries

I live on Ohio and have not heard anything about a shortage. The other day prices sky rocketed to $4.29. It's NEVER been that high where I'm at (northern Ohio). Right now it's pretty solid at $3.99 all over town...lowest I saw was $3.89.
