damn kids
I am really ticked right now. A few kids from the neighborhood decided that it would be a good idea to break into my house to steal my kids' ps2 and wii and a few of their games. What they didn't know was that my kids took them with them to their grandparents house this week. They weren't even there except a few games that my son didn't want to take with him and now those are missing. The smashed out the glass in the kitchen door and of course its a door that has glass all the way from top to bottom. They trashed my house by dumping everything all over the place. They knew what they were after because they didn't touch anything else that was in the house that was worth more money than the games. Now I'm left cleaning up the mess, fixing the damn door and worrying about who was all in my house when this happened. We know one kid for sure because he left his hat behind. The police said that we're pretty much screwed because he's a minor so there won't be any restitution. I don't think thats fair. His guardians should be responsible. Why should I just have to suck it up and deal with it??? I am beyond ticked right now. My kids would NEVER even think about doing this kind of crap. They have enough respect for other people and for themselves to do that. Why can't the parents of these other kids step up and act like parents??? ( I do know who the parents are of most of the kids and they would rather let their kids run lose, doing whatever than watch them) These are kids that are 9 years old to 15 years old. If they have no problem doing this to me, whats going to happen a few years from now? uggghhhhhh

hugs...I'm so sorry that you're having to deal with irresponsible parenting issues...I can sympathize with you a little. I hope you do get some restitution.
It's only kinky the first time.

If you know who one of the boys is, can you not talk to ttheir parent or go so far as to file charges. Not like you dont have DNA to do a comparison on any of the kids you suspect.
Sorry this happened to you

wow so sorry. I would be angry also! I don't know much law just what I see on TV and there are plenty of times when the adult is responsible for what the kids do when they are minors. (Ie your kid scratched my car, broke my window, broke my kids glasses) I would check around first and see if you can go after the parents b/c you have proof in the hat. But unfortunatly I have a feeling those parents will try to deny it.
Moms of boys work from son up to son down and then they go on line to escape

If you can prove who did it can't you sue him & his parents in small claims court? For damages? I would think you can.

I am making phone calls today to see what I can do. At the very least they should have to pay for the door that they broke and the games he admitted they took. I am just so mad that they honestly thought that they didn't do anything wrong. They wanted my kids' games and thought that they had the right to go in and take them. It just blows my mind. I am glad that they couldn't get the ps2 or their wii. Thats what they were initially after.

Boy, I'll tell ya... that's a damn shame ! Well, if they're already doing this as minors, they'll be in prison soon enough.
Sorry you're dealing with this....... it does byte, and I'd be majorly pissed too.
Oh, I've noticed the last several years, most parents don't care what they're kids are doing, as long as they're not bothering them.
I noticed on the one kid, you said "guardians", does that mean he has no 'real' parents ? What about the other boys, maybe someone has parents... here, they are responsible for what their minor children do.

One day they will break into the wrong home and be met by the wrong end of a shotgun.
Yep, juveniles can rob you, beat the sh*t out of you, and do whatever they want, and nothing is done about it. I know this for a fact. The system only gives a damn when they are nearly 18 and then they try to help.
It is a damn shame.

You can sue their parents for restitution ((the price of a repairs)) Do you have homeowners insurance or rental insurance? That will cover it.
