    We are Southern Baptist. LOL
Sometimes it is hard to let go of a memory, especially if you remind yourself of it everyday.

Some People just take things to extremes.

Seriously, most everyone is commenting about the congregation in the pews......I think the issue here is about those who are on the platform. Shouldn't they be 'held to a higher standard' to set an 'example'? If attire really didn't matter...why should priests, etc. wear vestments? Because it is symbolic, a sign of respect, an identifying 'uniform' and a representation of their faith. As much as we want to say our attire does not and shouldn't matter, it does. Would you take Fr. O'Hairy in a speedo delivering the Gospel seriously? It would also be very distracting.......

It's not the kind of church I would go to. When I do go, I wear nice dress pants. I don't think God really cares how you dress. I understand that a particular church has its "rules", but not my kind of church.
In memory of my friend Becky B. who died from breast cancer. I can still hear her say "early detection, early detection, early detection"..........

I'm Southern Baptist, in the summer I wear nice capris, winter I wear nice dress pants. I don't wear shorts. My husband only wears a suit for funerals and weddings. I know a holliness preacher. His poor wife wore dresses, her hair was up. She couldn't go shopping on sundays. He wouldn't even let her wear deodorant. Now she is in a rest home happy as ever. I see him around town and it gripes me how he treated her.

The church that I am going to talk about is a pentacostal holiness church. I have not worn a dress in maybe 20 plus years, so this bothered me a lot. In this church a woman was called into the pastors office after services and was told that she ccould no longer go to the choir because she wore a dress up in the choir and the choir was behind the pulpit. The woman was an older lady and the pants was modest -not tight or revealing in any way. They were not loud or cut low-just a nice dressy pair of pants.

The lady and several others pulled out of the church. I was offended by what he did and I refuse to go back to that church. I really do not think there should be a dress code, as long as the clothes are modest and decent.

    So what are your thoughts?
I'm 36 right now, and my dad always made me wear dresses to church and I was also not allowed to part my hair in the middle...lol

My husband is a youth pastor and we don't care what they wear, if they want to be there let them come as they are. After I turned 18 I wore only pants to church (a different one) and only wear a dress for a special occasion. My dad goes to my church now and has changed his mind since then... We have a wonderful, loving church that loves you no matter what you wear...

LOL, he still has never told me about why I was not allowed to part my hair in the middle... will have to ask him now
