    Unhappy school dance

I took my dd to a school dance friday, nothing formal, just one of those "hangin out" kinda dances. She was so excited! Well I went to pick her up, I found her crying and it just about broke my heart!! The boys were making fun of her because of the way she looks. She's maturing a little faster than the other kids, which is not her fault. I just hate seeing her so upset, she just turned 13 after all and thats a confusing time as it is. The sad thing is, the kids making fun of her are supposed to be her friends!

I just pray she has a good day at school today! Thanks for listening, I just needed to vent a little

Sounds like she needs a day of pampering after school. I'd tell her what ya probably already did- She is beautiful, we all develop at different times and it is totally natural, to keep her head up and not ever let anyone make her feel "ugly." I'd make her stand up in front of a mirror and tell her of all the beautiful things about her and explain that kids are mean and jealous sometimes. I'd tell her to be proud of who she is because God made her that way and he would never make anything not beautiful. Hope she feels better.

    Re: school dance

I remember a couple of boys who were supposed to be my friends started making comments about my breasts when I was in JHS. I approached them & told them exactly what I thought of them & told them that they were total 'write offs' as friends. I let them know that they hurt my feelings & that I would probably never forgive them. They were really sorry, I forgave them eventually, but things were never the same.
One of my DD's is developing like I did (she's already a Double D cup) in the 10th grade. I tell her & my other DD that boys are pretty much idiots in the teen years. They don't know how to respond to a woman's body - so they say & do stupid things (unfortunately some never out grow this). Make sure you have a good mother-daughter time with her (go eat, get pampered, buy some good lingerie, or even just go for a nice long talk in a park with her).
Good luck, give her hugs & love.

I was a 34C in the fifth grade...being the first in your class to wear a bra really bites. I was always, always having my back strap snapped. Until the day I kicked the kid that did it in the cojones. Never had a problem after that.

My son also went to his first school dance Friday night. He was picked on because of his teeth. It really ruined his night. Like OP the kids that picked on him were supposed to be his friends.

I notice that you're in Ohio too. Wouldn't it be funny if it was the same dance!

Maybe the boys were teasing her because they like her and don't know what else to do or how to act. Just a thought.

If it were girls making fun of her, then they are jealous. If it was the boys making fun of her, tell her to give it time, they will be chasing after her soon enough. Kids are cruel and unfortunatly we can't do much about it, except love them when they are home and let them know that "sticks and stones can break their bones, but words will never hurt me". Corney but goodie. I hope things get better for her soon.

I am glad that it blew over. Just think she can tell those same boys where to go when they ask her out in a few years lol

My kids and their friends are always getting into some little tiff, then by the time ya know it, it has blown over. I'm glad your dd got thru it. It does put ya into a shell especially at that age, it happened to me thru school since I was "skinny enough", so I have always been quiet and shy.
