My hubbys therapist-could she be lying & getting more payments?
Ok hubby has been going to a therapist(for stress) which was ordered through work when all the problems started at work. He is out on disability from work going on 4 months now. All because this manager at work treats some people differently then others. He causes then undeserved stress & hubby is just one of many who have gone on medical leave or left that dept because of this manager.
Anyway, the insurance will pay for 6 visits & he has already used them. The therapist said he could use my 6 visits as Iam also allowed 6 visits per year with our insurance. I said ok that's fine I didnt mine. He scheduled another visit then she called asking for my full name & social security # so she could authorize with the insurance the appts. She was going to say I was going but actually hubby would take my appts.
Hubby goes last week & she says oh we cant do it on your wifes so I will bill the insurance & you have to do co-pay visits. Co-pay for the therapist is $35.
What Im wondering is could she possibly be taking the co-pay from hubby(then not sending the paper work to the insurance co.) & then sending in the form to the insurance for the visits in my name?
It just seems weird that she now says oh cant do it in wifes name after she asked for my info.
I just dont trust this therapist for some reason. Not that its bad but she does her therapy out of an office in her basement. She also told hubby on one of the 1st visits that he had too much cologne on & that some people at work might take offense to that.
What do you all think?

She doesn't sound Kosher.... When you visit a Doctor, doesn't your insurance company also advise you of the visit/payment? I know mine does.
It would be fraud for her to treat him under your 'name'.
Mrs Pepperpot is a lady who always copes with the tricky situations that she finds herself in....

I know thats what I though at the time. Hubby is going to call the insurance company to see if any claims have been sent in with my name. I havnt been to see her or to any therapist.

If this is ordered through work, why are they not paying for it?
And yes, anyone, including your spouse, using your name for their treatment would be considered fraud.

Although it is true that too much cologne can be offensive to others (don't know your hubby's habits so I can't include or exclude him) but I think it would've been better for her to clue him in that some people are allergic to other's cologne and that this could create a problem, especially in the work place.
She sounds like a bit of a fruitcake herself....

I dont know why work wasnt paying for it. I think maybe work just wanted the st initial visit for hubby to get evaluated. After that I think hubby just wanted to continue because it helped him to talk it out.

I didn't catch that whole cologne thing. As someone who has allergies with alot of perfumes and colognes I can say that this does happen. I have been sent to the hospital on more than one occasion because of people who bathe in scents. I cannot go to department stores at Christmas because of all the perfumes they have out, and Yankee Candle Stores are a huge No-no.
This kind of allergy sucks, and I swear some people (usually elderly, because their senses have dulled) take a bath in perfumes/colognes.

He doesnt use alot of cologne but her office is very tiny. She made it sound like he made people upset at him because of the cologne.

She probally tried to do it under your name but they said it couldnt be done. If he was only allowed 6 visits then now he has to pay the 35.00 co pay that makes sense. If work only ordered the 6 visits then thats all they have to pay for.

I think she means with Ins. they paid for 6 visits, and they still had to pay the $35.00 co-pay. Now, they will have to pay 100% of the visit, and therapists can charge $100's of $$ an hour

The insurance allows 6 free visits a yr then I guess after that its covered but you pay the $35 co-pay.
What I dont understand is if the insurance denied having hubby go under my name then why did she still need my b-day & social security number?
