I suggest that all these "health authorities" get the full series of HPV vaccinations themselves, then get back to us in a year to let us know if they still recommend it.

If I had a daughter I would not let her get these shots. I've had two young cousins get them and they have both gone through a couple of years of bad paps since getting them. The doctors actually told the mothers that it was due to the shots since neither of them had bad ones before. I don't know what to believe. I know I have HPV, have for years... I've had one pap come back bad and had to have surgery...

Teens Who Don't Have Sex Still at Risk for HPV Infection
By Rachael Rettner, MyHealthNewsDaily Staff Writer | LiveScience.com – 18 hrs ago.

Even girls who have not had sexual intercourse are at risk for infection with human papillomavirus (HPV), a new study shows. In the study, which involved teen girls and young women, 11.6 percent of those who had never had sexual intercourse were infected with at least one strain of HPV. HPV is a sexually transmitted disease that is most commonly passed between people during vaginal or anal intercourse. But it can also be transmitted through genital-to-genital, or hand-to-genital contact, which is how the participants in the study likely got the virus, the researchers said. Out of the more than 90 sexually transmitted HPV strains, more than a dozen have been identified as cancer-causing, according to the National Cancer Institute.

HPV infections are usually transient, but can cause cervical cancer in some people if the infection lingers for long periods.

The findings support the recommendation to administer the HPV vaccine to girls ages 11 and 12, before many become sexually active, the researchers said. Doctors and parents should not delay HPV vaccination because a teen is not sexually active, they said. "Even before kids have intercourse, they're being exposed to HPV," said study researcher Lea Widdice, an assistant professor of pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. "Vaccination at 11 to 12 years old is not too early," Widdice said.

Because the study was conducted in just one community of mainly African American young women, further research is needed to see if the findings apply to the general population. A high percentage of the participants in the study had become sexually active or had sexual contact, and the prevalence of HPV may be lower in a group with different sexual behaviors, experts say.

One of Widdice's teammates receives funding from Merck, the company that manufactures the HPV vaccine Gardasil.

    Teens and HPV

Widdice and colleagues analyzed information from 259 girls ages 13 to 21 who visited a clinic in Cincinnati and got their first HPV vaccination between 2008 and 2010. The majority of participants (78 percent) were African American, and 75 percent reported having public health insurance.

Participants were asked whether they had ever had sexual intercourse, or whether they had ever had sexual contact without intercourse. A swab was used to collected cell samples from the vagina and cervix (either by doctors or the participants themselves), and the samples were tested for HPV.

One hundred ninety participants (73 percent) were sexually experienced, and many had had multiple sexual partners; the average number of sexual partners was about six. Among sexually active participants, 133 (70 percent) tested positive for HPV.

Of the 69 participants who had not had sex, eight tested positive for HPV, two of whom had HPV-16, a high-risk type of HPV. (Most cervical cancers are caused by HPV-16 or HPV-18.)

    Higher than expected

Eduardo Franco, a cancer epidemiologist at McGill University, in Montreal, said the percentage of girls in the study who tested positive for HPV and had not had sex was higher than he would have expected. But this may be because many of the girls in the group had had some type of sexual exposure, said Franco, who was not involved in the study. It's not clear whether the HPV infections seen in this study were found in the vagina or in the cervix, Franco said. HPV infections in the cervix are more risky in terms of their cancer-causing ability, but would be less likely in those who have not had sexual intercourse, Franco said.

The vaccines currently available prevent both vaginal and cervical strains, though they must be given before the infection emerges. That said, women who have an HPV infection in the vagina would still be protected against the cervical kind if they then get the HPV vaccine, Franco said.

(Gardasil protects four strains of HPV, while the vaccine Cervarix, manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline, protects against two strains.)

Widdice and her colleagues detail their results in the August issue of the journal Archives of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine.

Pass it on: Girls can get HPV even without sexual intercourse, and so HPV vaccination at a young age is recommended.

My take-away form the same article :

    ... and....

    ......

this isn't really new. the news about it being spread by skin on skin contact has been around for a while...

    ...

PLEASE---- all teenagers wash those hands at least three times before getting anything from the refrigerator!!!

    ..

Since the sample was heavily skewed (and random sampling not used), it is not representative of the general population and neither are the percentages. There are many problems with trying to project these percentages onto the general population of girls in that age range.

    ...

"But it can also be transmitted through genital-to-genital, or hand-to-genital contact"
Meh? I grew up learning (from parents, church, school, etc) that...THAT WAS SEX. oral, anal or manual stimulation between two people is sexual contact. So, how am I at risk for this if I don't have sex?

    ..

Amusing editorial. Unfortunately, the validity of the study's conclusions hinge entirely upon the study subjects' ability to tell the truth. Of course they're going to say they did not have any intercourse. Shame on the "scientists" involved in or commenting on the "study" (funded by vaccine manufacturer Merck). Shame on YAHOO! for posting this #$%$

    ...

So "genital to genital contact" is not sex now?
"hand to genital contact" is not sex?
    There in lies the problem.

    ...

    Let's see

    Company invents vaccine for HPV

Company convinces state lawmakers to make vaccine mandatory for young girls

Parents and others rebel against the governmental intrusion, and the states have to back down from the requirement.

Company does not have the sales they wanted or expected, because many parents do not see the need to have their young children vaccinated.

Company pays for "studies" to prove that what they are trying to sell is needed.

In other news, a new study shows that the sun will rise in the east

The Lead Vaccine Developer Comes Clean So She Can “Sleep At Night”: Gardasil And Cervarix Don’t Work, Are Dangerous, And Weren’t Tested
    SHARE THIS

    TAGS
    Author: Sarah Cain

Dr. Diane Harper was the lead researcher in the development of the human papilloma virus vaccines, Gardasil and Cervarix. She is the latest to come forward and question the safety and effectiveness of these vaccines.

She made the surprising announcement at the 4th International Public Conference on Vaccination, which took place in Reston, Virginia on Oct. 2nd through 4th, 2009.

Her speech was supposed to promote the Gardasil and Cervarix vaccines, but she instead turned on her corporate bosses in a very public way. When questioned about the presentation, audience members remarked that they came away feeling that the vaccines should not be used.

“I came away from the talk with the perception that the risk of adverse side effects is so much greater than the risk of cervical cancer, I couldn’t help but question why we need the vaccine at all.” – Joan Robinson

Dr. Harper explained in her presentation that the cervical cancer risk in the U.S. is already extremely low, and that vaccinations are unlikely to have any effect upon the rate of cervical cancer in the United States. In fact, 70% of all H.P.V. infections resolve themselves without treatment in a year, and the number rises to well over 90% in two years. Harper also mentioned the safety angle.

All trials of the vaccines were done on children aged 15 and above, despite them currently being marketed for 9-year-olds. So far, 15,037 girls have reported adverse side effects from Gardasil alone to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (V.A.E.R.S.), and this number only reflects parents who underwent the hurdles required for reporting adverse reactions.

At the time of writing, 44 girls are officially known to have died from these vaccines. The reported side effects include Guillian Barré Syndrome (paralysis lasting for years, or permanently — sometimes eventually causing suffocation), lupus, seizures, blood clots, and brain inflammation. Parents are usually not made aware of these risks.

Dr. Harper, the vaccine developer, claimed that she was speaking out, so that she might finally be able to sleep at night.

“About eight in every ten women who have been sexually active will have H.P.V. at some stage of their life. Normally there are no symptoms, and in 98 per cent of cases it clears itself. But in those cases where it doesn’t, and isn’t treated, it can lead to pre-cancerous cells which may develop into cervical cancer.” - Dr. Diane Harper

One must understand how the establishment’s word games are played to truly understand the meaning of the above quote, and one needs to understand its unique version of “science”.

When they report that untreated cases “can” lead to something that “may” lead to cervical cancer, it really means that the relationship is merely a hypothetical conjecture that is profitable if people actually believe it. In other words, there is no demonstrated relationship between the condition being vaccinated for and the rare cancers that the vaccine might prevent, but it is marketed to do that nonetheless.

In fact, there is no actual evidence that the vaccine can prevent any cancer. From the manufacturers own admissions, the vaccine only works on 4 strains out of 40 for a specific venereal disease that dies on its own in a relatively short period, so the chance of it actually helping an individual is about about the same as the chance of him being struck by a meteorite.

Why do nine-year-old girls need vaccinations for extremely rare and symptom-less venereal diseases that the immune system usually kills anyway?

I saw that article a few months ago and noticed it was from 2009. Why was it not widely publicized then, why are they still pushing this vaccine if the article is true & has weight?

Mind you, I am not for the vaccine, I'm just curious why this has been under the radar for so long. Was the scientist proven wrong? recanted? ???

Supreme Court rules Drug Companies exempt from Lawsuits

Drug companies failed to warn patients that toxic epidermal necrolysis was a side effect. But the Supreme Court ruled they're still not liable for damages.

Washington. In case readers missed it with all the coverage of the Trayvon Martin murder trial and the Supreme Court’s rulings on gay marriage and the Voting Rights Act, the US Supreme Court also made a ruling on lawsuits against drug companies for fraud, mislabeling, side effects and accidental death. From now on, 80 percent of all drugs are exempt from legal liability.

In a 5-4 vote, the US Supreme Court struck down a lower court’s ruling and award for the victim of a pharmaceutical drug’s adverse reaction.

According to the victim and the state courts, the drug caused a flesh-eating side effect that left the patient permanently disfigured over most of her body. The adverse reaction was hidden by the drug maker and later forced to be included on all warning labels. But the highest court in the land ruled that the victim had no legal grounds to sue the corporation because its drugs are exempt from lawsuits.

Karen Bartlett vs. Mutual Pharmaceutical Company

In 2004, Karen Bartlett was prescribed the generic anti-inflammatory drug Sulindac, manufactured by Mutual Pharmaceutical, for her sore shoulder. Three weeks after taking the drug, Bartlett began suffering from a disease called, ‘toxic epidermal necrolysis’. The condition is extremely painful and causes the victim’s skin to peel off, exposing raw flesh in the same manner as a third degree burn victim.

Karen Bartlett sued Mutual Pharma in New Hampshire state court, arguing that the drug company included no warning about the possible side effect. A court agreed and awarded her $21 million. The FDA went on to force both Mutual, as well as the original drug manufacturer Merck & Co., to include the side effect on the two drugs’ warning labels going forward.

Now, nine years after the tragedy began, the US Supreme Court overturned the state court’s verdict and award. Justices cited the fact that all generic drugs and their manufacturers, some 80% of all drugs consumed in the United States, are exempt from liability for side effects, mislabeling or virtually any other negative reactions caused by their drugs. In short, the Court ruled that the FDA has ultimate authority over pharmaceuticals in the US. And if the FDA says a drug is safe, that takes precedent over actual facts, real victims and any and all adverse reactions.

    Court ruling

The Court’s ruling a week ago on behalf of generic drug makers is actually a continuation of a ruling made by the same Court in 2011. At that time, the Justices ruled that the original inventors and manufacturers of pharmaceutical drugs, also known as ‘name brand’ drugs, are the only ones that can be sued for mislabeling, fraud or adverse drug reactions and side effects. If the generic versions of the drugs are made from the exact same formula and labeled with the exact same warnings as their brand name counterparts, the generics and their manufacturers were not liable.

The Court ruled, “Because it is impossible for Mutual and other similarly situated manufacturers to comply with both state and federal law, New Hampshire's warning-based design-defect cause of action is pre-empted with respect to FDA-approved drugs sold in interstate commerce."

And that ruling flies in the face of both common sense and justice. And as Karen Bartlett can now attest, it leaves 240 million Americans unprotected from the deadly and torturous side effects of pharmaceutical drugs. As a reminder, the number one cause of preventable or accidental death in the US is pharmaceutical drugs.

    Critics react

Immediately upon the Supreme Court’s ruling, both drug manufacturers and Wall Street investors were celebrating. As one financial analyst pointed out, drug company profits should skyrocket going forward. Not only do the pharmaceutical companies no longer have to worry about safety or side effects, they are exempt from the multi-million dollar court-imposed settlements awarded to victims of their drugs.
One industry critic was quoted by Reuters after the verdict. "Today's court decision provides a disincentive for generic makers of drugs to monitor safety of their products and to make sure that they have a surveillance system in place to detect adverse events that pose a threat to patients," Michael Carome, director of Public Citizen's Health Research Group told the news outlet.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) was quick to react to the ruling by writing a stern letter to FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg, "A consumer should not have her rights foreclosed simply because she takes the generic version of a prescription drug.”

But an attorney for the drug companies, Jay P. Lefkowitz, took the opposing position saying, “It makes much more sense to rely on the judgments of the scientific and medical experts at the FDA, who look at drug issues for the nation at large, than those of a single state court jury that only has in front of it the terribly unfortunate circumstances of an adverse drug reaction."

In other words, if the FDA says something is safe, it doesn’t matter if that decision is wrong or the result of lies, fraud or deception on the part of the world’s pharmaceutical companies. And there’s no way to sue the FDA for being wrong and costing millions of unsuspecting Americans their lives. That result leaves 240 million Americans unprotected from an industry responsible for more preventable deaths in the US than any other cause.

Japan withdraws support for HPV vaccines due to infertility side effects
    July 29 2013 •

(Natural News) The government of Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is speaking out about the destructive side effects coming from popular, worldwide-promoted HPV vaccines Gardasil and Cervarix. Gardasil is Merck’s opus and Cervarix is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline.

As of today, an estimated 3.28 million Japanese people alone have been inoculated with these HPV vaccinations. So far, 1,968 adverse cases have been presented to the Japanese government, detailing severe medical side effects

The Japanese people are reporting side effects ranging from "long-term pain and numbness to infertility and paralysis." In the wake of these complaints, the Japanese government has decided to withdraw its support for these widely pushed and controversial HPV inoculations.

Global organizations push vaccinations at all costs

Regardless, the World Health Organization stands by the HPV vaccinations efficacy, believing them to be useful tools for "preventing" cervical cancer.

Global pharmaceutical giant Merck isn't listening to the ground reports of the vaccination's awful side effects either, stating in a public decision, "While direct causal relationship between the vaccines and serious symptoms observed after inoculation has not been established at this time...We will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders, including (the health ministry), to monitor and verify safety data toward resumption of active promotion for HPV vaccination as soon as possible."

The government of Japan looking into nearly 2,000 adverse HPV vaccine reactions

The HPV vaccinations have not been stalled or suspended in Japan. The government is just not actively promoting the use of them anymore. These HPV vaccines are still available for free to girls provided through subsidies, mandated by law. The only difference now is that Japanese medical institutions must now inform the young girls the government health ministry does not recommend the vaccines any longer.

In hopes of appealing to everybody, VP of the Health Ministry, Mariko Momoi, commented, "The decision (not to recommend the vaccination) does not mean that the vaccine itself is problematic from the viewpoint of safety. By implementing investigations, we want to offer information that can make the people feel more at ease."

Momoi is one of five men on the government task force leading the investigation of the HPV vaccinations. The task force has heard 1,968 adverse effects and are further investigating 43 of the cases. In the months ahead, the government will be forced to decide to continue withdrawing their support or to go ahead and reinstate their recommendation for the vaccines.

The U.S. uses taxpayer dollars to pay for dangerous Gardasil vaccinations

Despite mounting evidence of Gardasil dangers, other countries remain under the thumb of Merck's vaccinations spell. For instance, the Unites States avidly recommends that teenage girls be HPV vaccinated, as they promote industry-backed studies that tout the vaccination's "effectiveness." The United States actively uses tax payer dollars to fund federal Vaccines for Children programs, which include the use of Gardasil, provided by the Centers for Disease Control. In fact, 20 states have passed laws that set aside funds for Gardasil education programs and implementation. As governments believe they are promoting general health and wellness, it's important to look at the documented statistics of people experiencing dangerous side effects.

Merck has a history of corruption

A Candadian medical study, conducted by the University of British Columbia's Neural Dynamics Research Group, first reported by the Washington Examiner, included a list of Gardasil side effects that entailed, death, convulsions, paraesthesia, paralysis, Guillain-Barre syndrome, transverse myelitis, facial palsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, anaphylaxis, autoimmune disorders, and deep vein thrombosis," among others.

This isn't the first wave of medical corruption Merck has promoted. Merck is known for falsifying test results for their own mumps vaccines. Two former employees filed a lawsuit in 2010 alleging the company convinced the federal government to purchase hundreds of millions of dollars worth of worthless vaccines. Merck is also known for their drugging of cattle with a recycled anti-partitioning drug called Zilmax. They are most infamously known for their Vioxx scandal from 1999 to 2004, which yielded 38,000 deaths and a massive recall.

So why does anyone, any government, any sane person trust pharmaceutical giants like Merck?

Why is this organization of murderers and thieves still in business?

Why aren't all government withdrawing their support from these dangerous HPV vaccinations like Gardasil?

Why are the true alternatives to preventing cervical and other cancers not discussed?

Why is anything that threatens human fertility widely promoted?
