    Coupon Abuse

Have you ever heard of greed?

There's a thread in Deal Forums, about Target coupons. And here are some quotes

    I got 15 boxes tonight!
Got 20 of them with no problem. It makes me want to go print some more!
Target does this to attract customers to a slow selling section of their store. The offers are phenomenal, but are meant to attract numerous customers not just one. While I'm not a fan of "limit 1" promotions, I am a fan of "limit 10."

The only time they reserve the right to limit you is when you are depleting their stock and leaving none for other customers.
Read between the lines,^^^ "coupons are legit, please don't abuse them."

    3) TARGET, themselves, tells me it's perfectly OK to use 15 coupons iif I'm buying 15 boxes
you didn't read between the lines. Bluntly put, don't abuse it. It's also common courtesy.

It's funny how b/c someone doesn't share your opinions you shun them. Did you forget about the manager who told you, "no?" He/she has more control over his/her store then some low level telephone CSR a million miles away.

My personal experience with telephone CSR's are they are like parrots. They merely repeat the same phrase over and over again.

Also, those coupons don't come ten on a sheet, those are (for lack of a better word) Photoshopped.

How would you feel if i signed up for fifteen email accounts and kept requesting freebies and wouldn't allow for people who legitimately wanted it to get it? Don't I have a right? Most offers never state "one per address."

How about i call the company and let them know that a public forum told me that it was a free offer and that you should up hold it if you promote it, like the next person quoted did.

I even called corporate and they told me if I bought 15 boxes, I could use 15 coupons.
OK guys (and gals) I called Target's corporate office to inquire about their coupon policies.
That's insane! The coupon specifically states ONE PER ITEM--not ONE PER TRANSACTION....ugggh.
I do this at other stores like Shaw's when I occasionally get an uninformed coupon nazi...
"give them a foot, and they want a mile"

It's not bad enough you're abusing their policy, but you're wasting them more money by having a manager stop his daily work to deal with you. And again, another CSR by calling corporate. So for a few measly cents, which is what most grocery deals are if you think about it, you bother two people directly and ruin the offer for millions of others.

They will stop future coupons, if everytime they do a promotion they need a team of lawyers to fill in the loopholes, or hire a think tank to come up with all the ways people will abuse the offer. Think Wal-mart, the low cost leader, due to marginal to no lawyer fees associated with marketing dept.

Sure, if they offer it, they should honor it. But we live in a society. And in a society we each have a duty to look out for each other, including companies. We are big to complain when a company conducts bad practices, but when we do them, it's something to argue back about?

If by chance the people in this thread think they are doing this for the rest of us, then on behalf of the rest of us, "thanks, but no thanks." Just don't abuse this policy so I can find out what other offers they will provide for years to come, not to splurge on it for a few weeks and have it die.

Most of the stores love loyal shoppers. I go to my local Target and Kroger several times a week with a stack of coupons for each place. I might use a lot of coupons but I also buy a TON of items with out a coupon in sight. If the corporations don't mind us coupon lovers why are you complaining?

Also, as with Target their corporate policy is one coupon per item. They want you to print out and use as many coupons as you want. I've spoken to several store managers and corporate employees regarding this policy. They know that people always wind up purchasing a lot more then just the couponed item.

Again, I've never went in a store just for an item that I had a coupon for. I always wind up with quite a few items.

Also, for most of us it's not "greed". My husband and I are currently trying to raise our two children, one of whom is very sick, on just on salary. For us it's called NECESSITY!

thanks for your reply, i'm always open to others opinions. If i wasn't, i would have blogged and not posted this in an open forum.

Feel free to express your opinion. There's no need to yell, your message gets across just fine w/o it. Try italicizing next time you want to draw attention to a certian point.

Thanks for the suggestion. Before pointing out something someone could do to make their post better maybe you should spell check your own posts. Certain is the correct spelling not "certian". Also, the "i" in I'm is capitalized because you are talking about a person.

Well, at least I got a smile from V/W today!

And yes, it is abuse, even if you think it is a "necessity".

If the stores don't consider it abuse why should you or anyone else? As I said earlier, Target encourages it!

Your Target might encourage it, but ours no longer accept printed coupons for this very reason. None of the stores I regularly shop at accept printed coupons anymore. Its a shame too because I could really save some money.

(had to be sure to spell check before I posted )

I know that 2 of the Targets near me have stopped taking printed coupons for that reason also. So if I have coupons for Target, I have to go to the East side to a store there.

And I wasn't raggin' on anyone for doing it out of necessity, I probably would too if I had to. But I would still think it was abuse.

    Re: Coupon Abuse

You need to contact the Target corporate office and they will call the stores and have the situation fixed.

Also, the coupons in question are actually from the Target website. I don't see how they can refuse to take their own coupons.

Its not up to corporate, its up to the individual stores if they want to accept the coupons or not...

and they don't take their own printable coupons, because people have abused that luxury. There is a sign on the door that says they don't take them. I can call whoever I want and it won't change that fact.
