WTH? I don't get it.
I am watching 'breaking news' in my area right now. Someone called in and reported a suspicious car in the parking lot across the street from our high school. The police search the car and find a loaded gun, bullet proof vests, police lights, police scanner and fake police badges...
The officer that did the interview said that 'at this time it apperas that no one will be arrested' ... because they weren't on school property, so they are just going to get a ticket.
Whoever was in the car (2 adults) definately were up to no good!

No, they will wait till some tragedy happens and THEN try to find someone else to blame for them not taking action prior to the incident.

Re: WTH? I don't get it.
If I were injured because they were impersonating police officers and happen to pull me over-I'd SUE.
Sounds too much like they were/have been impersonating police officers.

Re: WTH? I don't get it.
Heres a story a station did on it....
Tulsa Police questioned two men Thursday afternoon near Union High School at 71st and Mingo after finding a loaded gun and other items in their car.
Union School security called officers after parents reported a suspicious car parked across from the school.
Tulsa Police say they found the loaded gun, a bullet proof vest, a scanner, knives, badges and red lights on the car. The two young men told Tulsa Police they were there to pick up a girl at the school.
Officers confiscated the weapon and gave the driver a ticket for having it.
I agree w/ you dr grin.. they are gonna wait till something happens and then find someone to blame

I totally hate the laws. This is so stupid of the police offericers. I thought they are for to "proctect and serve" Well, they sure arn't doing there jobs. I don't see anyone being protective of others while there is some crazy nut out there. Trying to make them selves look like police offercers. God Knows what they are going to do. How sad its takes someone loosing there lives inorder for the those cops to get off there a$$ and do something.

Re: WTH? I don't get it.
The problem, generally, is NOT the police officers themselves. It is the LAWS they must follow and the only things they can charge with, etc. are based on laws. Our laws SUCK big time, we give more consideration to the criminal than to the victims/common sense and all the hollering about how we should treat criminals. They probably could NOT charge them with impersonating a police officer unless they caught them in the act.
I'd definitely sue, but not the police officers themselves. Sue who can do something.

Re: WTH? I don't get it.
i hate the laws too, but unfortunately the only law they appear to have broken, (from what i read here) is transporting a loaded firearm. unfortunately according to the law, there is nothing illegal about owning those things, hell i own all of them but the bullet proof vest. I park by the school all the time. doesn't mean i'm gonna go in and start shooting.
do i think these guys were up to something, YES I DO, however, the police know who they are now, they know the police know who they are now, and i can guarantee they will be watched closely by the dept for quite a while.
ok, flame away, i'm barricaded with my diet pepsi, i can take it

Re: WTH? I don't get it.
I agree with you MsLynn. We're all pretty sure these guys were up to something but other than the loaded firearm they werent doing anything ILLEGAL. The cops should be trying to get them with anything they can like parking wrong or zoning stuff, Anything to get these guys with something. They know who these guys are now and they'll be watching more closely im sure.

take it from someone who knows, the police are just as frustrated as everyone else about not being able to do anything

Re: WTH? I don't get it.
Here is another goofy law. In Illinois, once a person has left a library, the people who work there cannot tell the police the name of an offender. So when a young man was violating his probation by being near the children in the childrens section, the police were called but he left before they arrived so there was nothing they could do. How stupid is that. In Illinois your kids are not safe, by law, at the library under certain circumstances.
* Not all libraries follow this law. Some do cooperate with the police.

if i thougth a sex offender was near my child at the library, we wouldn't have to worry about him leaving, well not vertically at least.
