Re: another High light bill.....
Maybe call your electric company and ask them to come out and check your meter to make sure it is working correctly. I know you said the rates went up before but I still would have them checking things.

Re: another High light bill.....
You know I didn't think of that the meter reader may be reading it wrong. Sometimes I think ours doesn't read it at all because the amount used will be exactly the same or a whole lot more than the last time they read it. It couldn't hurt. One thing I've noticed if I turn the thermostat on my central air less than eighty degrees it seems to run a whole lot and not turn off much and the bill gets real high. But if I stick to eighty or a little higher it doesn't go up very much. This month it even went down 17 dollars. So I keep mine on eighty in the daytime and at night I turn it up to 85 or more. My husband has breathing problems he can't take the cold air at night he gets crooped up.
I hope it goes down for you next month.

Re: another High light bill.....
Buslady469, I'm with you. We received our bill on Saturday. It's $351.00. Hopefully it'll start going down with fall coming. Last month our bill was over $400.00 as well. It's never been this high in 5 years. I don't feel it's any hotter than "normal" for here...Houston.
Hang in there.....hopefully relief will be coming soon with fall/winter coming. I've had our meter checked 2 times in the past 6 months. Nothing's wrong. Neighbor across the street her bill was $150.00. I asked her how she did it....she's not running her a/c at all. I'm not sure how she stays in her home all day w/no air flowing thru it.
My blinds are closed, doors to other rooms, a/c is up to 78. I know all my neighbors think I'm a hermit....lol

Re: another High light bill.....
Gotta love Texas....lowest average cost of living and no state tax but the HIGHEST electric rates.....nice.
I'm right there with you and the $400 light bills.....I actually went out and bought a new energy efficient washer and dryer to help cut down on the costs of electricity and water. My next bill will be the first full month with the new set so hopefully I'll see a difference. We've also been trying to get it cold at night so that we can use just fans during the day and we just put tinting on our windows.....even though I think it's tacky I needed to do SOMETHING fairly cheap to keep the heat out during the day (we have massive windows).
But think about it this way....come winter time in Texas we won't have to run AC OR heat LOL
Wherever you go....there you are!

Re: another High light bill.....
My sympathies.
Thankfully the summer is on its way out...
Heres hoping for a mild winter, so your heat bill won't equal your AC summer bill.
