Thread: Just need to vent...

Hey guys. I haven't really been on here a lot. There has been so much stuff go on that it isn't funny. I have no idea how the heck I'm gonna pay for daycare this month. With the electricity bill more than doubling, that just puts a damper on everything. I have cut out but I just cannot cut anymore. I put in an application to get a second job because things are just not going all that well. This really sucks. I work a 40 hour work week and cannot keep up with just the utilities, let alone everything else. I make too much to even consider any type of aid and my parents are not able to help right now. I am going through all of the stuff I don't really need and putting it on ebay as well as the local classifieds to try and get some extra cash.

Does your state offer childcare initiative? Or some sort of help for those that can't afford daycare? I would hope places start reevaluating their fee structures!
Especially w/rising gas costs, etc. I just got a bill from our gas co stating that our service is going up $4 b/c of gas...ugh.

Have you talked to your light company about getting on the program where your bill is the same each month? That might help you to at least know what it'll be. I know how you feel. The highest bill I had last year was $133 in October last year but its already $152 this year so far. I hope you can get some relief from all the worrying about power bills. That would work but my bill went from $130 up to close to $300

Thank you all for just letting me vent. We have figured out a short term solution but it wasn't what I wanted to do but it will work for now.

Have you looked into any energy assistance programs? Illinois has LIHEAP, but I think most states have something similar.

I feel for you JWWB. I will keep you in my prayers. I do know how you feel. Luckily my son is grown now, but he is giving me a whole different kind of stress now. I have had to do 2 jobs before and it hurt bad for 2 reasons, one was that I was sooooo tired, it was affecting my my 40 hour a week job, and two was that I still had no money and felt like I was doing it all for nothing. So, I have decided that unless I am going to lose my house, I will not get a second job again. I have been without propane since April and hope that I can get some before it gets cold. The utilities and gas prices are hurting everyone right now (except for the people that could make a difference - but that's a whole different conversation) and just hang in there, I'm thinking of you.

We are don't use propane gas for the house, we must use oil for heating the house in the winter months. That bill is just gonna be crazy but the electricity will go down a little as we will not be running it for the a/c but still just a pain.

How much are your daycare costs?

It was $800 a month and now that school is starting, we are able to cut that in half.
