    I am so ticked

I went to pay my dh's car insurance and this woman tells me that last months payment bounced. I was like....ok, that's strange....I think I'd know if a check bounced. I KNEW it had cleared, but of course I knew she didn't believe me. SO, I went home...checked my bank acct online....and sure enough that check cleared! I call her to tell her the ck had cleared. She told me to get a copy(front and back) of the check and bring it to her and then she could take the next payment. I drive all the way to the bank, get the copy like she asked and brought it back to her. Mind you, it is hot as haites outside and I am lugging my babies around. She then asks me if I have a copy of the statement where it cleared b/c something wasn't clear enough for her. As if the STAMP from THEIR company wasn't enough. I told her you have got to be kidding me....all you wanted was a copy of the check and that is what I furnished...call the bank if you want, but Im not going back! She sat down, took off the fees for a bounced check etc and then accepted my payment. She said we'll see what happens....

WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS????? I PAID MY PAYMENT and it CLEARED my bank. Yet, they say it bounced and I have to jump through hoops to prove it cleared???? How is this MY fault?? I'm going to call and complain as soon as my kids are done eating lunch and down for their naps. I am so ticked that I am wasting MY expensive gas(lol) and my time to prove my check cleared.....AAAAAAARRRrrrghhhhhh!!!

Sounds like she has poor bookkeeping skills. Some people act like running all over the place is nothing. Call her boss.

I would be very upset also. Do you think they are trying to screw you over to get more money in their pockets or are they just dumb? I would file a complaint telling them that you had gone there to make a payment then home, the bank and back there again, taking your kids along everywhere with you. I know that isn't easy. Let us know how it goes if you do call and file a complaint.

If the check hadn't cleared why hadn't the company contacted you before you went to make the next payment? I had a house insurance check get lost in the mail (I pay monthly) and they sent me a cancellation notice when the due date had passed with no payment. Hope you're able to get some satisfaction from the company.

    Re: I am so ticked

That's pretty screwed up...hope everything gets taken care of.

I had something similar happen earlier this year. DD had a dr. bill around $350 last fall that wasn't covered by insurance. I was making monthly payments and then when we got our tax refund, I paid the remaining balance. It was a real odd amount like $76.39 or something. Anyway, not even a month after that they sent me a letter stating I owe $20 and if I didn't pay it would be sent to collections immediately. First off, I made payments. Secondly, I know I paid it off. Well I was making the payments through their website and when I called, they weren't showing a $20 payment from December. I no longer had the email confirmation because that was like 3 months earlier. Needless to say, she didn't believe me.

I checked online and sure enough, I had a $20 payment clear in mid-December to a "Med Fusion". They wouldn't let me send them a copy of my statement...it had to come directly from the bank. My bank wouldn't mail it, but the lady printed out a statement, put her teller stamp on it, and gave me the envelope to mail it in. I also included a not so nice letter about being harassed over $20. I have not received any further letters from that dr's office, so hopefully it got straightened out. It's now been about 3 months, but if I get a collections letter, it will not be a pretty sight.

I've had something like that happen....I think that these days companies will hire anyone, just so that they have a warm body to fill the space...good luck!

Another case of morons at the helm. Well glad you at least got it worked out, even though you had to go through all of the undue stress that was the insurance companies fault.

    Re: I am so ticked

I had something similiar happen with Nationwide Insurance about 2-3 yrs ago. Sent them in the check it cleared and got a letter telling me my check bounced and I was like huh and it showed I paid $150 more than my normal payment which totally stumped me my check was only $86 and some change. Well somebody posted my check to someone elses account and someone elses check to mine and theirs bounced not mine. Was a real big mess to try to straighten out I faxed them copies of my check back and front half a dozen time, called a dozen times then went to the local agents office with check in hand and in spite of all the assurances they would fix it and I would be fine, my insurance got cancelled I get sent to collections and it took a supervisor at the collections agency to actually fix the problem, teach me to leave Liberty Mutual for someone cheaper !!

    Re: I am so ticked

Happened to me with a rent check. The clerk misread my check and posted $25 instead of $725. Although I had lived there for several years, I never received a courtesy note or phone call. I did receive an eviction notice. When I called, the woman rudely said, "YOU HAVE TO PAY!!" and hung up on me. I called the law office that was listed on the notice and was treated in a reasonable manner.
I obtained a copy of the cleared check and faxed it to the attorney - the apartment management still refused to speak to me.
In order to cancel the court date and not be found in default because of failure to show up, I had to make several calls.
The apartment manager then called me and shouted about my getting her in trouble over a simple clerical error. It amazes me that nothing is ever proofread, double checked or balanced.
Sorry that it happened to you. It is a nightmare when someone cannot admit an error and then says that you are the one who untruthful.
