your right, the government did pay for my education. i got my dad's GI bill because he was too dead from Vietnam to get it, so they offer it to all of his kids. i guess you think it could have been spent better, like maybe on a Kennedy defense or line jumper?

No, not ALL mexicans who work construction are illegal. I stated that the legals are the only ones that stay. And yes, they do have fake and/or fraudulent SS cards. Cards can be bought and sold on the black market. By the time the employer has reported the card to SSA and it comes back as a fake, the employee is gone. They will also use one valid SS card from a family menmber, then use it for 3 or 4 people working several jobs. Piece work crews are famous for having one legal immigrant collecting the money for a job and paying them from that, many times at only several dollars an hour. What is most frightning, is the identity theft by illegals. Arizona has the highest rate of ID theft per capita. Not unsuprisingly, most of the theft is perpetrated by illegals.

119 illegals held in ID-theft probe
    By Jerry Seper
    THE WASHINGTON TIMES
    July 28, 2005

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents yesterday arrested 119 illegal aliens at the Petit Jean Poultry plant in Arkadelphia, Ark., after an audit of the company's employee records and in response to a February identity theft conviction.
ICE spokesman Temple Black said those arrested were employed at the facility using the identities of U.S. citizens. He said agents were joined by 30 agents from other ICE regional offices in the arrests.
"ICE is committed to enforcing laws relating to identity theft, false claims to U.S. citizenship, and fraud," said ICE agent Craig Griffin, who heads the agency's Texarkana, Texas, field office, which oversaw the investigation. "We will arrest those who violate immigration employment laws and continue to restore integrity to the U.S. immigration system."
Petit Jean Poultry is one of the largest employers in southwestern Arkansas, with 750 workers. Officials at the company did not returns calls yesterday for comment.
Mr. Black said that ICE agents in New Orleans conducted the employee audit on an administrative search warrant obtained from the U.S. District Court in Little Rock and that agents from the Little Rock Office of the Social Security Administration's inspector general's office assisted in the operation.
He said it has been determined that many aliens apprehended at Petit Jean illegally purchased U.S. citizen birth certificates and Social Security cards, and then used those documents to obtain identification cards bearing their photos from the state of Arkansas. The Arkansas identification cards were then used to obtain employment under the stolen identity.
Yesterday's operation, Mr. Black said, stemmed from an investigation into the sale of U.S. citizen birth certificates and Social Security cards that culminated in the December 2004 arrest of a former Petit Jean employee. The employee, Maria Moreno of Arkadelphia, pleaded guilty in February to multiple counts of a federal indictment charging that she unlawfully sold identity documents and Social Security cards.
Mr. Black said $60,000 in cash was seized from Moreno as suspected proceeds of her unlawful activities.
He said that the arrested aliens were turned over to ICE Detention and Removal Operations and that information regarding fraudulently used Social Security numbers will be provided to the Social Security Administration and the Internal Revenue Service to unscramble the earning records of the affected U.S. citizen victims.
Of those arrested, he said, two were from Honduras, one from El Salvador, one from Guatemala, and the remaining 115 aliens were from Mexico -- including 69 women, one of whom was a 14-year-old. Wages paid to the illegal aliens ranged from $6 to $6.80 per hour.
An investigation into the plant is continuing, Mr. Black said.

A SSN is needed to work in the United States. Undocumented immigrants and those with visas that do not permit employment have devised multiple ways to obtain a Social Security card fraudulently:
    1. They can invent a SSN;
    2. They can steal or borrow a Social Security card;
    3. They can buy a counterfeit Social Security card;
    4. They can obtain a valid Social Security card by using false evidentiary documents, such as counterfeit passports and INS papers;
    5. They can obtain a valid Social Security card by using a fraudulently acquired U.S. birth certificate; or
    6. They can fraudulently obtain a valid replacement Social Security card by stealing a person's identity.

    Protect yourself against identity theft

Illegal immigrants are stealing Social Security numbers so they can live and work in our country. It's a nationwide crime that's particularly bad here in Arizona.
Eyewitness News 4's Peter Busch looks at the problem in Tucson and found just how easy it is to have your identity hijacked by an illegal immigrant.
    -----------------
Thousands of illegal immigrants cross the U.S./Mexico border every day, and more and more are finding a way to live the American Dream, using someone else's identity.
Law enforcement authorities say it's a problem in Arizona and nationwide, tens of thousands of illegal immigrants are purchasing Social Security cards via the black market.
Only $20 will get you a Social Security card and number illegally on the street.
Utah Assistant Attorney General Richard Hamp says the cards are often duplicates, already belonging to an American citizen.
Approximately 80% are regular U.S. citizens like you and me whose numbers have been compromised.
U.S. Attorney Robert Miskell says this growing problem can, in part, explain why Arizona has the highest ID theft rate in the nation.
There is a lot of illegal entries into the country along that border and most of those people want to have documents to legitimize their presence in the United States.
In 1995, Tucsonan Isaac Urquiza was told that he had an adult criminal record in California, though he says he hadn't been to California since he was 14.
It turns out the crimes, which included drug smuggling among others, were committed by an illegal immigrant living in California, under the same name.
Urquiza found out that, in this case, his own father, who he had not spoken to in more than 15 years, sold his Social Security information to the illegal immigrant.
"An illegal alien got my Social Security number and has been able to form an identity for himself and his family. All have my last name."
In 1997, Urquiza changed his last name to Harris, hoping perhaps, that this would solve the problem. It didn't.
Nine years after his identity was stolen, Harris says the man living with his personal information and old name has cost him an estimated $50,000. Mostly in taxes taken by the IRS.to pay for unfulfilled child support obligations.
But Harris says his only child still lives with him and his wife. Harris is convinced the payments were attributed to the man in California.

    Identity Theft Mess

    Nichole Vrsansky

This may be one of the worst cases of identity theft ever. Since 1999, Loves Park resident Jenny Kling says more than 200 illegal immigrants have been using her Social Security number.
It's incredible and unbelievable, but what's even harder to understand is that no one at the state or federal level, Social Security included, seemed to be prepared to solve this problem.
“It's absolutely horrible, horrible, five years of a nightmare."
But in a nightmare you wake up. Jenny Kling isn't that lucky.
The Loves Park Police Department has compiled a list of more than 30 illegal immigrants who have been using Kling's Social Security number to get jobs and collect unemployment. Kling believes there are more than 175 others. She found out in 2001 when applying for unemployment benefits.
"They denied me the unemployment benefits because they were paying to three other individuals at that time," says Kling.
How did it happen? The state employment office had this explanation: "In Chicago, some guy or several people sit at a computer punching numbers, and as soon as they get a hit for a legitimate Social Security number they sell it on the black market," says Kling.
Kling thought the problem could be fixed if Social Security simply red flagged her Social Security number and issued her a new one, but when she told management at the Jefferson Street office in 2001, she says they told her this wasn't identity theft.
"Social Security said it's not identity theft because they're using their names with my number. They're not using my name," says Kling.
Loves Park Deputy Police Chief Jim Puckett says this is the worst case of identity theft he's ever seen. He's made calls on Jenny's Behalf to Social Security, the state, the FTC; nothing. He's even tried to track down the people on this list:
"Businesses have either closed or the violators have moved, or they're using different names."
But here's the twist: the state of Illinois is accusing Kling of fraud. She's now responsible for paying back the unemployment benefits collected by those who are illegally using her Social Security number. Her state tax refunds have been garnished and private investigators have come knocking to take even more.
"It's very scary to have people knock at my door to take pictures of my assets to sell them to garnish whatever I've got to pay back what people have taken from me," says Kling.
"She's a true victim of identity theft and I don't know if she'll ever get out of it," adds Puckett.
Following our calls to Social Security Thursday and Friday morning, Friday afternoon Jenny was issued a new Social Security number.
However, this is just the first step; the problem isn't solved yet. Her old number still exists, so she still needs to sort things out with the state as far as paying back those unemployment benefits.

Re: Say what you want but....

If that last story doesn't get folks attention, nothing ever will. Arizona is the state with an excessively high number of illegals and the greatest identity theft problem. Sheesh, if we don't stop it now, before we know it they will be overtaking us here in the east too. It's a wave and it's headed our direction!

And that poor ol' girl needs to seek the assistance of a good lawyer (or two). There is no way in $#@! I'd be sitting back being told that I owed the government money, letting my refund be garnished, and my furnishings sold because someone here ILLEGALLY stole my SSN.

For crying out loud, it's time to take back America and our lives, our jobs, OUR rights and liberties!

Re: Say what you want but....

My daughter was born in 1997, her Birth Certificate was stolen from our mailbox. Someone applied for a SS# in her name and it took me three years to get it straightened out. The person applied for credit cards and bought a new car in my daughter's name. It took the FBI investigating the person after they got a passport and flew to Columbia - didn't anyone notice the 18 month-old-baby girl toddling up into the airplane and tossing her diaperbag into the overhead compartment ? They were able to get photos from the survalance footage of a 35-ish woman dark hair, olive skin who was identified as being on a "Watch List" ( No, I was never able to find out why ). I finaly got my child a NEW SS# after three years of red tape and BS.

Re: Say what you want but....

The stories go on and on, rarely seen in the mainstream media because of the outcry by the very vocal latin community. Racism and that damn race card is thrown out whenever it is brought up. Then there are those who wish to legitimize the illegals who have been perpetrating fraud will never be prosecuted. American citizens's lives are destroyed, irreparable harm done to those following the laws. Wait until those who cry for amnesty for the poor ilelgals have their child's, their elderly mother or even they themselves become victims of stolen identity, have the IRS and creditors come banging on their doors, liens placed on their properties. If someone has no respect for the simple law of coming into the country legally, who in their right mind would think they would have any respect for any other laws in place. If the ID they use to get a job isn't an out and out fake, then it is stolen. Will the next SS card for sale on the black market for $20 be someone in your family? Will your ID be stolen and used by 200 illegals? Will the life of your child be stolen out from under them before they are even out of diapers? Continue to allow and condone the illegal invasion and see what happens.

Alarmist? You bet your butt it is, because for those of us on the front lines of the illegal invasion, we have been seeing it for decades, and it is truly alarming. Sit there and continue to extoll the virtues of criminals and wait until your job is in-sourced by illegals. Wait until your security is at risk. Wait until your financial life is destroyed by someone who hides in the shadows until once again the liberal left decides to grant amnesty to millions of law breakers.

Question Re: Say what you want but....

What about the person whose SS# was stolen by that same person once they crossed that 500 miles of desert ?

Why shouldn't that same person who broke the law to enter our country illegally be required to wait and go thru the same legal process that thousands of LEGAL IMMIGRANTS go thru ? ?

Ironic how someone who has been so vehemently critical of Bush ( bordering on hostile to the point to pathological ) is now quoting him as it serves your view. LOL ....

"You are the future of America" - Senator Ted Kennedy to DC's Illegal Immigrants

Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is urging the Department of Homeland Security to assure illegal immigrants that they will get their fair share of Hurricane Katrina relief aid without fear of being deported.

In a statement posted to her official Senate web site on Wednesday, Clinton said that the DHS should "issue a formal statement reassuring immigrant victims of Hurricane Rita and Katrina that they can seek help from relief agencies without fear of deportation or being turned over to immigration authorities."

In a letter written directly to Homeland Security Chief Michael Chertoff, Clinton and other Senate Democrats complained that they first asked for Katrina amnesty for illegals more than two weeks ago, but have not received a response.

"In fact," they said, "we were surprised and troubled to learn that DHS has placed some individuals in deportation proceedings after these individuals sought assistance, despite the fact that the government had previously encouraged all storm victims to come forward to seek help.

"Particularly given the widely publicized reports that DHS will deport some immigrant victims of Katrina who sought assistance, we believe such a public assurance is crucial."

Mrs. Clinton urged Chertoff to "terminate removal proceedings against those [illegal immigrants] who were placed in proceedings after they sought assistance."

Other Senate Democrats who signed onto Mrs. Clinton bid to obtain Katrina aid for illegal immigrants include Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Maria Cantwell, Barack Obama, Russ Feingold, Daniel Akaka, Frank Lautenberg, Joe Lieberman, Carl Levin, John F. Kerry, Chris Dodd, Pat Leahy and Jon Corzine.

We could do this for days, both sides are wrong. I disagree with anyone, even President Bush who thinks that amnesty for law breakers is a good idea.
