Re: oh god what to do NOW
You may have a bad draft in the house, have you tried to cover the windows with that plastic stuff or anything, it works really well, it doesn't cost too much and saves alot in the end

Re: oh god what to do NOW
you may contact the mortgage company and ask to pay the interest only, instead of the entire payment this month

Re: oh god what to do NOW
Contacting your mortgage company is the first thing you should do. The other poster is right, the bank should allow you to pay the interest only but ask if you can do it for a few months until you get on your feet. Luckily the weather is getting nicer so the furnances can be turned way down or off. I love the spring/summer because the utilities are so much lower.
Good luck. I have been where you are so I know it is very hard but also able to turn it around.

Re: oh god what to do NOW
Sometimes the mortgage co helps you but including all your bills into your mortgage payment if you can refinance. Ours did this and saved us! We were in a similar situation a few years ago and since we refinanced and paid everything off;/down, we have been fine. You will make it, you just have to ask for the help!!

Re: oh god what to do NOW
Well, I'm not feeling as bad as I was yesterday. But things still haven't changed. I WAS going to take half my IRA and chuck it into the bank account, but I would take a substantial hit. Its still a possibility, and depends on how things are in a few months I think. I can't refinance because I just bought the house in September, and I'm trying as hard as I can to hold on to it. There WAS supposed to be a renter in there, but he decided to move in with his g/f two months after he met her, and now things are as happy as they seem, so I do believe he's kicking himself for that one. I had a couple that moved in, but I kicked them out after their dog went after me.
Creditors called me yesterday about one of my credit cards....they want a post dated check. Over the phone no less. I said, I can't give that to you because I don't have any money in my account, and I don't get paid until Friday. 'Well, if you don't, then you'll be getting follow up calls and a ding on your credit' I told them they'd have to do what they'd have to do, but I don't have the money at the moment, and my house payment was way more important.
What about a debt consolidation loan?

Re: oh god what to do NOW
Why did you say you had no money when you had an IRA? I think everyone here (including me) really felt like you had NO MONEY! If you have an ira & you are dead broke, of course you should that money. It sounds like you need to go to free credit counseling. Call your credit card companies & see if they will put you on a payment plan.

Next time they ask you for this, tell them NO. It's illegal and I have no doubt that they know this. (And, if they don't, they should be out of business!)

Re: oh god what to do NOW
I really DON"T have money...yes, there is the IRA, but it's not much, and I'm already thinking seriously about cashing that out. And truthfully, I had forgotten about it. If I cash it out now, I take a substantial penalty, and it wouldn't even help is the sad thing. As for the credit counseling, I don't think I need that. I know how to pay my bills....just when the money isn't coming in the way that it was, and this is old debt btw, then you can't. I'm not late on anything except for one thing----but its really hard.

Re: oh god what to do NOW
Are you agressively looking to get another renter? What about the guy that was renting from you? Has he indicated he would like to move back?
Does your boyfriend live with you? If so, is he helping with the bills?
