Re: Due to the possible Gas shortage...
funny I see a whole website created for and by Iraq vets against the war...
http://www.ivaw.net/
The IVAW Mission Statement
Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) is a group of veterans who have served since September 11th, 2001 including Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. We are committed to saving lives and ending the violence in Iraq by an immediate withdrawal of all occupying forces. We also believe that the governments that sponsored these wars are indebted to the men and women who were forced to fight them and must give their Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, and Airmen the benefits that are owed to them upon their return home.

Re: Due to the possible Gas shortage...
Well of course there will always be members of the military who don't agree with the mission. I guarantee it is a minority.
The oil is all in Texas, but the dipsticks are in D.C.

Re: Due to the possible Gas shortage...
everyone I know in the military is against GWB and thinks this war is pure texass bs...and there are alot of them I personally know(like my husband who I miss terribly and am waiting to come home safe and sound so we can have a life together and a family) and have personally spoken to. Not my babys sisters cousins hairdresser...
I'd love to see that guarantee!

Well first off I thing that last comment was rude. I never said anything of the sort. My mother knows these people personally and if I can't trust what my own mother says then there's something wrong.
My DH is in the military also and everyone I know was FOR what we're doing. There will always be people FOR and people AGAINST what the military is doing. I know several military people said they didn't want to be in the military if Kerry had become President. They were afraid of what he would do. They were more comfortable with Bush. So see it can go both ways.

Re: Due to the possible Gas shortage...
My son had a note that said they will be making the days up not using snow days, once again you are clueless yet felt it nessacary to come into this thread say things as to try to insult me and then roll your eyes. I don't know why but it always amazes me that people just try to hurt one another because someone has a different opinion then theirs.
CBS
There was nothing insulting about what I said, geeze. I took my information from the articles I had seen on this. Articles that state the snow days are to be used for this. If your particular school shose not to follow directions then I guess you have an issue for the school board.
(CBS) Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue asked the state's schools to take two "early snow days" and cancel classes Monday and Tuesday to help conserve fuel as the nation's fuel supply lines try to recover from Hurricanes Rita and Katrina.
Perdue estimated that about 225,000 gallons of diesel fuel would be saved each day by keeping buses off the road. He pointed out that an undetermined amount of regular gasoline would also be saved by allowing teachers, other school staffers and some parents to stay home.
Electricity would also be conserved by keeping the schools closed.
All but three school systems complied with the Perdue's request, and that didn't sit well with parents who suddenly had to scramble to find babysitters and daycare for their children.
Perdue told The Early Show co-anchor Rene Syler his move was "precautionary."
"I think, with information that we received Friday of last week about supply disruptions, I think it's the appropriate action to take," he said. "We can get ahead of the curve, and it's the right thing do.
"With Rita facing us last week, although the damage is less, all the refineries are still shut down. All of our pipelines are down, and we don't know what our fuel supply situation is. We still have not recovered from the effects of (Hurricane) Katrina. We were not 100 percent back on our fuel supply from even Katrina."
Perdue denied pressuring any districts to close.
He also addressed the complaints of parents who had to stay home from work to care for their kids or find someone else to.
"If I were a parent," he said, "I would have been inconvenienced. And sacrifice is about inconvenience; getting through temporary disruptions is about inconvenience. And my goal was to make temporary inconvenience and not a crisis later on. So, I understand parents' feelings, and I'm sorry that they're inconvenienced.
"I still think it's the right thing do and, irrespective of the lesser damage, our fuel supplies are down, our refineries are down, and we hope to get through this fuel disruption fine."
One definite bright spot? "No doubt, I've got the kids' vote," Perdue joked.
Ok i have a question for the OP. if you are so up set that your kid's had to stay home for 2 day's to save gas. on those off day's did you even crack a book open with your kid's so they wouldnt be missing out on learning? like maybe going over what they did learn in school or maybe reading a few chapter's a head so when shcool did start again and your kid's did go back to those class's they havnt been to in a week they wouldnt have for gotten what they did learn?
Im glad you had a nice family day at the mall but if that would of been my kid's i would of least had them open up there school book's and go over what they had learned.
ITA Why wait for the government to do it all for you. If the subject is over your head(NOT a slam, I would have probs with it as math is my weak point) then use the net. As for the rolley eyes, if you look at my posts here and abroad you will see that I love the smiles and usually throw that one in it means nothing other than it's not a mad or sad face. I promise if I decide to be cutting it will be verbal, not in smiley language. It will be obvious. I usually refrain from being too sarcastic on here because it was the first board I ever joined (2 days after I got my first computer). That's what I have I won for.

**** The views and opinions stated by kids=stress are simply that. Views and opinions. They are not meant to slam anyone else or their views. To anyone whom I may have offended by this expression of my humble opinion, I hereby recognized and appologized to you publically.

Thanks for asking and assuming...yes we did do school work. My oldest has a bit of trouble in school, so I get his homework assignments ahead of time, most of his classes I have received all the assignment for the entire year, others just a month in advance. So we did do school work up until I could not help any longer. And just so that you and others know my children HAVE to read every night. If they want to play video games or anything else, they must first complete homework and then read. If they want to play XBox for an hour then they have to read for 30 minutes. We take education very seriously in our home, that is why I was and still am upset over it all. I wish I were the only parent that was upset about it, but I am not.

Re: Due to the possible Gas shortage...
I have stated from the beginning and will say it again, it is and always will be ridiculous to take school away for gasoline, or should I say money. My kids education is more important then some money hungry peoples need to get more money. If you do not agree with that, then I am sorry for you.
We pay taxes not just taxes but very high taxes for our kids to go to school, yet you make the comment like why wait for the government to do it all for you...why would you pay someone for a job not done??? And most importantly, we are very into our sons education and they are worked with at home, but the whole idea of school is to learn, thats why there are teachers, thats why they get a paycheck. Its pretty simple, you wouldn't pay someone to paint your house, then them not show up to do it, and decide what the heck, I will do it myself.
Another thing, people on here say I don't believe the media or the what the news reports say, yet they always seems to be quoting from it.
The more you complain, the longer God makes you live.

Re: Due to the possible Gas shortage...
So if Bush wants us to ration fuel does that mean NASCAR will be postponed?
