Just want to say good for you working for a degree. It can never hurt to have a degree, its tough but definitely worth it.

Yes it does...if he started 20 years ago compared to now...huge difference. Age has alot to do with everything, just trying to see where you are coming from is all...

He may be making decent money without a degree, and what may be alot of money to some, is not alot to others. The point everyone is trying to make is, it is easier to get a well paying job if you have a degree. That is only common sense.

A lot of things factor into degree vs no degree. In my old hometown you can work anywhere without a degree and geta really good jobs.. but its a tiny podunk town where most of the kids that graduate and go to college, leave the town for bigger and better jobs.

In the town I am in now (which is a major city) kids who have college degrees are delivering pizza because the job market is brutal.

Age and experience is a major factor with or without a degree. My DH had no degree, but was offered high paying jobs from all over the country (even had an offer from warner bros, but I didn't want to move LOL) because he has the experience that employers look for in his particular market. I have a degree, but because I chose to stay home with my children and not persue a career, I have tried to find a decent job in my field and find it very difficult because of my age and the fact that my exerience is limited.

I think it goes both ways, but when you are in a city where there are 300 people applying for the same job and 250 of those people have degrees, the companies go for those with a degree. And out of those, they go for the ones who have the most experience.

In my hometown, you can start out at a company when you are right out of highschool and be a bigwig by the time you are in your thirties. In my current town, someone who has a good job will be passed over and over again for those who have a college education.

I know what I am saying kind of contradicts itself, but hopefully I explained it well enough lol

Exclamation Re: yes, i live at home BUT

As usual this link has turned so OFF THE POINT of what the OP is writing and again, so many opinions and I ask what for?
It seems to me, that the OP has not really responded to this and here WE are just responding to a bunch of "phooey" and what for?
There is a link she has found $20.00, but I didn't read it, and I should have, I guess if I found $20.00, and had no clothes or whatever that was about at OFF TOPIC, I might write here, I am using that for clothes, a bill or even a book, and further to THANK ALL who have responded to this link...this is why I think so many OLD BBS users say this is not the same place, things go so crazy that the OP doesn't respond, to this link, created by her for advice, but rather a defense, again..sshhessh!
Does this ever occur to anyone of of US and I am included in this, this is a MAJOR waste of time and for me, again, and this link has turned into a huge NOTHING conversaton amongst those who are justifying thier rights to thier life's...who have worked hard and deserve what they have verses what this was about, in the first place, if there was any point at all..
Pat yourselves on your backs, and let her figure this one out, so many great opinions..so little time by the OP to respond, that is too bad...
I vote for LEAVE THIS ALONE..and let her figure all the great ideas posed..

At last....my love has come around..

i don't know if that's a lot to you, but it is to me. i don't make much and my hours have been low at work lately. they are finally coming up, which is why i would be able to afford a dog after bills each month. i am slowly earning more money on each check, and the extra cash would go to the care of the dog. (food, supplies, vet, etc)

i do not eat my parents' food. they work for it. i buy my own.
i wasn't going to acknowledge this, but it truly urked me. i am not wanting this to sound mean, i just want to reply to it.
as far as the remark about try working full time with x# of kids and going to school - no thank you. don't get defensive about having kids. that was a choice you made that i didn't. you're having to deal with it and you might not like it, but don't be rude with me because i don't have kids to care for. i work
full time (by company standards) now with 32 hours, and am going to a true full time position with 40 hours in a week. the only way i am going to be able to afford to go to school is if i have a kid and go through the free college deal. that is unacceptable to me, so school is out of the question for me for at least a few years. if i do go, i will be working full time, probably with a part time on the side. i doubt it though.
    can't bite my tongue anymore!!!!!!!!
sorry but your bills are not all that much considering you still live with mommy and daddy...DON'T BLOODY WELL AND COMPLAIN THAT YOUR BILLS ARE SO BAD WHEN YOU AREN'T EVEN PAYING FULL PRICE LIKE THE REST OF US "REAL WORLD" PPL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never said you were stupid. Just slightly funny that you were saying that she should learn to spell and in your chastizing her made a mistake yourself. Ironic, no?

BTW, I have not replied to this thread or any others of hers because I am not going to contribute to the attention she is getting. She starts inciteful threads, then backs out and lets everyone bicker amongst themselves. I do not intend to fall for it.

was not suggesting you did say i was. it was intentional (the misspelled word) as the op seems to think all us single moms are stupid freeloaders who milk the system by poping out kids to get more benefits.
