Re: how tall is your mailbox?

Well it's a good thing I was home when the mail came. She didn't even bother to put it in the mailbox, she just threw it on the porch. We have to go this weekend and get a new mailbox.

Re: how tall is your mailbox?

When I moved in a year and a half ago the previous owner had a mailbox right by the breezeway door. The mailman told us that we had to put in a curbside mailbox...as new people move in they're replacing all the ones that are not curbside, but everyone else is grandfathered in. Ours happens to be in a little bucket of cement since someone didn't feel like digging a hole. Sure it blows over in a really heavy wind, but the birds use the bucket as a birdbath and I can move it around if it happens to be in my way for yardwork, etc.

The people next door, who moved in about a month before us, the postman told them the same thing...they didn't get their mail delivered for a month because they didn't get a curbside mailbox.

Call the post master. As a carrier, my understanding is that once delivery been made, we have accepted your mailbox. I have had one customer to be forced to provide a larger box only due to the volume he recieved, others have had to replace an unapproved box only if they were new customers. You should have been notified that thier was a problem when you originally changed the boxes out.

Re: how tall is your mailbox?

I have wondered about this as our mail box is now 5 inches shorter than all our neighbors on our street. My hubby backed his work trailer over it and then just pounded it back into the ground. Our mail man is very grouchy and he has never said anything about it. I feel lucky! I have such bad luck with other peoples mail boxes I have hit 6! The last ones I hit were our neighbors. I pulled in our driveway which is on a slight hill and pulled up the e-brake and proceded to get out of the car. I had one foot on the pavement and one still in the car when it began to roll backwards and would have crashed into the neighbors house but I managed to hop back in and turn the steering wheel so I just careened backward in a huge arch and took out both mailboxes with my car door that was still open. The door was smashed against the fender and somehow the window which was up did not break. And yes I did pump the brakes first and for some reason it did not work at all maybe because the e-brake was still up? It was a old crappy car which we sold. It was on Valentines day and I was so upset that I had ruined the whole day, hubby was nice though because I was already so upset.

Had the same problem here with the mail carrier. Was tall enough, but sat too close to the road. So had to move, then was too high. ARGH Glad we fixed ours. Good luck.
