    *sigh*

I don't know what to do... I was in my fertility docs office 3 weeks ago to go over some lab results. At which time she said my glucose was elevated but as long as I started losing weight would be ok. This was the same thing my primary physician said way back in January, so I thought nothing of it as I had decided to do Atkins. Well... now her office calls and leaves a msg this morning that going by that very same 'elevated test result' that she wants me testing my blood sugar daily and on glucose medicine. I'm totally freaked... so I called my primary and they of course say why on earth would she do that. But I don't know what to do... primary says tell her you dont want to if you don't, no need, but I want a baby and I don't want the fertility doctor to not see me anymore cause she's the only one that has actually been trying to help us.

What really sucks is I'm so scared about all this that I've worked myself in to tears... which obviously isn't going to help anything... ugh... well thx for reading if you did... I'm goin back to bed.

I am not sure, maybe you need to have your medical doctor and your fertility doctor conference about it. Tell them both that you are not sure what to think and that you want the best for your body and that they need to figure out just what you should be doing. Hugs and hope you are able to have that baby you want.

Thanks you two... I called her and told her (even tho I told her at my appt too) that I'm on Atkins and not getting many sugars now... I also told her I was refusing this until she did a retest and I fasted beforehand to ensure accurate results. It's not that I actually mind doing this (even tho it does scare me silly), I'm just confused because when I was in her office to discuss these results she said it was ok as long as I went on a diet and started losing weight and now she's changed her mind... I guess she's allowed that option, but I don't want her playin w/ my body w/out an accurate test that I have fasted for either.

I probably don't know what I'm taking about but is there a chance that she wants to treat you with the glucose medicine so that you don't become diabetic? A few months ago I had some tests done for PCOS and my glucose levels were high and she said that at some point I may have to be treated with something that I believe is called metformin. It's used to treat diabetics and also to treat PCOS.

Metformin is a sweet little drug used to help control your blood sugar. I have no idea how high your was but my doctor started me on it when my blood sugar was at 225. Plus I have a history of hyperglycemia on my mom's side of the family and it doesn't help that I have thyroid problems and fertility problems and a whole slew of other stuff.

Meformin in the generic is called Glucophage. You want to check with your family practitoner or an endocrynologist and be sure that you blood sugar is elevated over a period of time. Plus you don't want gestational diabetes if you can avoid it. Although the diabetes diet is considered one of the best out there.

I TOTALLY AGREE, WITH WHAT THIS LADY HAS SAID. YOUR DOCTORS NEED TO GET TOGETHER AND DECIDE WHAT IS THE BEST FOR YOU. NEVER FAST BEFORE A BLOOD TEST, THE RESULTS, WILL NOT BE ACCURATE. THIS COULD BE ONE OF THE REASONS THAT SHE WANTS YOU TO TAKE THIS NEW MEDICINE. GO BACK TO YOUR DOCTOR AND TELL HER TO TAKE THE BLOOD TEST AGAIN, BUT DO NOT FAST BEFORE THE TEST. THE READING WILL BE DIFFERENT. I ALSO HAVE HYPLOGLYCIMIA, I HAVE HAD IT SINCE I WAS 13 YEARS OLD, BUT I EAT WHAT I AM SUPPOSE TO EVEN, CANDY FOR THE SUGAR. GO DO YOUR TEST OVER. GOOD LUCK, WITH EVERYTHING.

I'm just wondering why someone isn't supposed to fast before a blood test. When I had my bloodwork done I could not eat or drink anything after midnight. Was I given the wrong information?
