Angry Someone do something with this Dog!

Someone do something with this Dog!

My neighbors across the street have this Pit Bull pup. The guy who owns it moved to NV with his wife and dot and left their dog behind with his mom who still lives across my street. One day my dot looked over the fence and saw the dog was skinny and very hungry so she started throwing food over the fence for it. The old woman started throwing the dog out of the yard and of course he came over here knowing we had food for it. My dot could tell the dog has been abused because he has scars on him for what looks like cig burns or something. Also the dog has the disposition of an abused animal! (Tail between legs, pees on himself when scared, etc.) My dot told the lady she’d be happy to find a good home for the dog. The lady agreed and so my dot put this dog in our backyard. The next day my dot started to take the dog somewhere to give him away and the lady across the street said she wanted to keep him. My dot said OK and put their dog back in their backyard.
The lady keeps throwing him out of the yard and all this week he’s been either in my front yard or back yard! I don’t mind feeding him but he has become a big nuisance! He runs in our house! We have to pick him up and literally put him outside! He tries to jump all over us to play! He tries to follow my kids to school! He’s a pup so he wants to play with our dogs and will attempt to keep our dogs from coming inside when I let them out! The dog is an expensive dog and it wouldn’t be a problem if the lady wanted to see him.
I have 2 choices….either tell the lady to do something with the dog or I can call the pound! I know we should have done something about it from the get go seeing the condition the dog was in, but I don’t want to make enemies with my neighbors. It’s really difficult to get along with people here in this town! I’ve also thought about having one of the girls sneakily taking off with the dog and giving it away. What would you do?

I think letting the girls sneak off w/ him is a good idea... I certainly wouldn't tell her to come get it or else cause no tellin what she'll do w/ the poor thing. Whatever you do, please don't let him stay over there.

I would probably call the aspca in your area, and turn the lady in..what she is doing is illegal..also tell teh aspca that you would be willign to try to find a home for the pup if they do end up takign it from the woman..which seems very likely from what you have said..this woman will probably also be charged with animal cruelty (which she woudl deservce)..

I would have called the humane society long ago. If the dog is neglected that is serious offence. You don't know what kind of stuff is going on inside his body if he was starved. He should go the humane society where they will they check on him. Stravation causes alot of internal damage. When you give him away you don't know who your giving him to. They could fight him, beat him, starve him. He needs a chance at a good life where he is loved!!

Want me to take him?? If you lived close I would. I have a rescued PitBull Jeek and a puppy Bailey!!

    RescueAPit~he's all yours!
You are right not knowing what kind of owner he'd be going too.
The SPCA doesn't deal directly with our town unless there is a huge problem. We have a pound (they are part of the SPCA but they don't adopt animals out) 10 away from ours who deals with our town.
I can just see the writing on the wall now! I call the pound..the neighbor will get pi$$ed and get a fine and get the dog back, then I'll have to deal with her family starting trouble for us which I'm not mentally capable of handling! I don't think she is responsible for the direct abuse to the dog. I think her son did it, but she is responsible for not feeding it and throwing it to the curb!

I would call the pound or aspca, but I don't think I woudl give him away...you never know this woman coudl be the vindictive type, and if she ever foudn out that she took her dog and gave it away she could possibly either sue her, or even report her to the police for theft.

Just trying to save the OP more problems here...

Where i live i would NOT call the pound. it is a nasty discusting place ! but they are so great ,, they don't kill after 3 days anymore they let them live there & they get sprayed with a hose everyday , get sick , mange or starve ,, ISN'T THAT NICE ! We don't have a humane society anymore but so what ! A pit would be killed as soon as it was picked up by our wonderful H.S. !
Find a home for this baby & sneek him out !!!

When the dog comes to your house just pick him up, put him in your car and take either to a rescue shelter or the SPCA. Don't give her the opportunity to ask where the dog is or what happened. Just do it. Someone will recognize that the dog needs help and will take him in.

Don't call the pound, just do it. If any one asks, you don't know anything about the dog.

I second this! Don't hesitate...just save that baby!
