Here's my two cents. Last week, we received a phone bill for over $400. There were only 3 calls on it, and they were overseas. I figured it was about $13 a minute. We don't know anyone overseas. And it was charged to a number we had disconnected at the beginning of the year. My husband called the phone company and found out the calls were being made to order porn movies. Because the number they were charged to is no longer in service, we got the phone co. to confirm to the billing long distance co. that the number and the account were closed. The long distance co. reversed the charges.
To make matters worse (and to warn you all), the other day I downloaded a spyware detector, and after scanning my computer, I found a whole bunch of things in there, and one that said it takes your info, and makes 1-900 porn related calls. Now I know where it came from.
Does anyone know of a free spyware removal program I can download?

Sheesh and to think I was getting upset over being charged 10 cents a minute, rather than 5 cents.
Dear Lord, please give me the strength to not slap an idiot today......Amen.

Adaware is a good one. I'm not sure of an exact link but you could try doing a search and you should find it pretty easily. Alot of people like spybot. That's supposed to be a good one as well.

The call was made from Rochester NY to NE PA & he said he called from a phone where he stopped to make a delivery.

That's an awful lot of money! I hope they sort it out and take it off of your bill! I live in RI and I call my dad in PA all the time, he has called collect before, and it never costed anywhere near that much! I think that is outrageous. I hope it is some kind of mistake. All that money just to let you know that his cell phone didn't work. Wow.
Amysusi, I had something like that with the porn phone call on my bill. I lived alone at that time, no one else used my phone. My son was only four, it wasn't him using the phone, LOL. I called and raised all heck, and they took it off of my bill. I also got a long distance block because at that time I didn't need to call anyone long distance.
Midnight Blue, I hope you get it worked out, Hon. That is ridiculous!!!
