qr has asked me to delete this thread I don't know how to delete it. They say that nothing is wrong with the site.

Right now I just feel that I am stuck in the middle: is Qr right or is CA right? I can't afford to take any chances
Did you contact QR again after CA told you that? I'm wondering why none of the other antivirus programs are catching it. I logged on to QR on another computer, which had Norton antivirus, and I did not get a warning.

Thanks, I would bet that CA's software just wasn't working right. We had a problem like that at work and it was because of a program that one of our not so bright electricians downloaded thinking it was a update of our antivirus. Took me 2 days to get that crap off that computer and it took that electrician 4 days to clean the warehouse to make up for messing up my computer. So I would not take CA's word that it was a QR problem.

I wrote to Dmitry (webmaster of QR) and told him about your problem with CA. Here is his reply.

    "Hi,
We are certain there are no viruses on QR or Local. It is something wrong with the CA software. No one else is reporting these issues except the very few people on BBS that have the same CA software. We triple checked and there is nothing on the site that can be causing a virus. We have no banners on our site at all.

Also it is not very possible for LOCAL.com to have a virus. They are a big search engine like Google and Yahoo. Last thing they would want to do is put a virus to scare away their millions of daily visitors.

The biggest proof of this is that members are getting a GENERIC TROJAN/VIRUS and not specific. Generic means that CA software itself does not know what it is. It's generic.

So there isn't much we can really do to fix this because have thousands doing QR daily and no one else is reporting anything. We tested in Norton, McAfee, Comodo and a few other large anti-virus softwares and there are no signs of anything. When we did have a virus on one of the clicks a year ago we had 100 emails in a day. That's when we knew something was really up. This is unknown and I think it's an issue with the CA software.

I highly suggest that people report this issue to CA and let them exactly pin point why they think there is a virus. If they can pin point the issue I am sure this will help a lot.

Feel free to post this on BBS.

    Thanks,
    Dmitry

I have CA but haven't been to QR in a long time. I sure wish they would make the site more user friendly. Get rid of the tokens, etc and just stick to the pts. the background hurts my eyes. I can fix it to a different background but I need to do it each time I log in.

Memolink is super easy in comparison.

Janelle...when you change themes at QR, UNcheck the box that says "Test Themes Mode", and it should stay on the theme you're changing to. You have to uncheck that box, or it won't stay on the theme you're changing to. I find the Simple Theme to be much user friendly and easier on the eyes! HTH

BTY, I haven't run into any viruses or trojans lately on QR, but recently did run into an entire slew of every kind when doing the Memolink Lotto! It happened when I clicked the Fusion banner! I haven't had it to happen since, but I also haven't clicked that certain banner again.

I also have run into viruses twice recently when I clicked on one of the search results on SwagBucks. Both were optical info sites!

    I'm using Symantec (norton).

It looks like CA fixed the problem. I downloaded today's update, and I'm not getting the virus warning any longer.
