Killbarney, the only press I've been able to find about the MP sale specifically, was in the Chicago Tribune in early September. The article is so old now, you have to pay to view it there, but I found basically a copy of the article for free on the Stamford Advocate's website here:

"United also has told the bankruptcy court that it wants to sell MyPoints.com Inc., an Internet-based direct marketer that rewards customers for online product purchases...United subsidiary United NewVentures paid $112.5 million in cash for MyPoints.com in June 2001."
Someone posted an email on my website from "Steve B." at MyPoints Member Services about two weeks ago in which he claimed that MP was "once" owned by United but is now an "independent operation." MyPoints' corporate site, however, still indicates (in their media kit) that they are owned by United, and no press releases have gone out about any ownership changes.
United is due back in court in Chicago tomorrow for more hearings on their bankruptcy plan. If approved, they're set to emerge from bankruptcy in early February. Whether that means the sale would go through before then or after then, I'm not sure. Assuming they can find a buyer. Anybody have $112.5 million lying around?
