GAAAA, I'm so dumb,dumb,dumb
My DH and I ordered a Dell laptop lastnight and I went through My Points. Well we used our home email address instead of the My Points email I have with them. Guess what, no points now. GAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Oh no! That stinks. I am always so paranoid about making that mistake myself... I'm sorry it happened to you. That would have been a lot of points!

Did you get a confirmation email? If so, forward it to your MP account email, then ask for the points. It's worth a shot. You can always delete the "forward" part, and then go from there.

Might be better, if the laptop hasn't shipped yet, to contact Dell and see if you can cancel the order. That way you should be able to reorder through MyPoints using your "correct" e-mail address.

Janelle, maybe you can just update your Dell profile with your MyPoints email address. They don't report the points to Mypoints right away anyway.

Re: GAAAA, I'm so dumb,dumb,dumb
Yes, I got the confirmation email today. I think I will call Dell tomorrow and see if they can change the email address. We paid around 1,700 for the laptop and My Points was giving 2 pts. for each dollar. GAAAAA. Hubby does not want to reorder since he also ordered the add on stuff. It would take a long time to remember how he went through the order.
The woman at My Points said you have to use the email you sign up with so you won't get lots of points from other point programs with each purchase. I guess people could do that.

Re: GAAAA, I'm so dumb,dumb,dumb
Janelle,
That happened to me too this past year at Mypoints. I signed up for their new Mastercard but used a real email address instead of my points address. Fortunately, I realized the mistake right away and had the address changed temporarily. (I couldn't change it online, so I called the CC company to do it.) Since it was after-hours and a weekend, I got lucky because I eventually got the points (more than I expected) and I didn't even have to call them to inquire about it. (I assume that the report for the signups didn't get run til the next week, and by then, the address was already "corrected".)
If you can get Dell to make the change, perhaps it will make it in before their report is run.
Considering that they say it can take up to 45 days for the companies to report the transactions, my guess is that they don't run them daily, but perhaps weekly or monthly.
Good luck!
