Mom in the hospital
My Mom had a spinal fusion done on the 16th. Well she decided she needed to do nothing but lay in bed and it would be OK. Well yesterday it took her 1 hour to get out of bed and when she decided to go back to bed (without telling me she was getting up) she ended up falling just as she got to her bed. Thankfully no broken bones but I could not get her off the floor. Called the fire dept. They took her to the hospital. Well she is now admitted with an infection in her surgical site and a kidney infection. She also has shingles and we didn't know that until the morning of her surgery (they seem to be clearing up and not very bad). She has finally agreed to go into a rehab unit once she is released from the hospital. Thankfully there is a rehab center associated with the hospital so she will be transferred there. Please keep her in your prayers. Thanks.

Wow, that's a lot to deal with...for you both. It's a really good thing she is putting herself in the hands of the professionals who can do her the most good. My prayers are with you, hoping for a speedy recovery.

You both are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope with rehab they can get her up and walking. I hope the infection is not too bad. I'm really glad she didn't break anything. Older people can be really stubborn. I know first hand. Hugs.

That it a lot for her and you to deal with. I hope she'll be ok. The rehab is the best place where they can take care of her until she's better.

So sorry to hear this. I hope she gets well real fast!
That's good that she will be going to a rehab where they can help her get over all this and get stronger. Physical therapists do absolutely amazing work and can make a big difference!
Her health ins might possibly pay for a physical therapist coming to her house to work with her after she goes home from the rehab.

She was discharged from the hospital yesterday and transferred to a rehab facility. The one we thought she would go to was full so she was sent to one that is literally 2 blocks from my home. Talk about convenient. She begins the actual rehab tomorrow and she is ready to come home already. They expect her to be there for about 2 weeks.
