NEW School prayer: as written by a 15 yo

Written by a 15 yr. old School Kid in Ohio :
New Pledge of Allegiance

Since the Pledge of Allegiance & The Lords Prayer

Are not allowed in Schools anymore

Because the word 'God' is mentioned...

A Kid in Ohio wrote the attached:

NEW School prayer:

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule.
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible...
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen

If you aren't ashamed to do this,
Please pass this on.
Jesus said,
'If you are ashamed of me,
I will be ashamed of you before my Father.'

Not ashamed. Pass this on.

Why not just kick everyone who isn't Christian out of school and be done with it then.

The pledge is allowed in schools and so is prayer.

I don't think that would solve any problem/gripe people have with this. Society sadly doesn't really accept people speaking about their religion, be it Christianity, Buddism, Islam, Pagan/Wiccan. Hell there's still people out there who think interracial couples shouldn't exist. I think what we need to do is teach people tolerance for others beliefs and lifestyles.

Personally speaking, I'm all for classes in school teaching kids about ALL religions in the world. Just because I may or may not practice a certain one doesn't mean my kids might find it more interesting and better to practice, kwim?

My daughter told me just the other day that when she was in public school they had not been allowed to say the pledge since grade school.

I applaud the kid that wrote that wonderful prayer, love it and I'm not ashamed to pass it on....Thanks for posting this

You can pray anywhere anytime you want too. You might not be allowed to lead an oral prayer, but God hears you just the same. Isn't that the point?

I have no problem with the original Pledge being said in any type of school. Organized prayer has no place in public school unless ALL religions are taken in consideration. If you want your child to be in a school that has prayer, then enroll him/her in a private school.

This is one item in a long long list of reason why I took my kids out of public school. OUR home school has prayer, bible study and the fundamentals teachings that belong in school that have been lost along the years.

I am a christian.

I do not believe in prayer in school. Or the teaching of scriptures

Because if "christian" prayer or scriptures was allowed in school, (the mention of Jesus, God). Then ALL religion beliefs, prayers and scriptures must be allowed in school (equal rights), which means, contemplating your naval, buddah... and not even that, christians don't even agree with other "so called" christian faiths, prayers and beliefs~ mormons, Jehovah witnesses, seven day advantist... and so on.

So, NO, religion should not be allowed in school, because then ALL religions must be alllowed, and I for one DO NOT believe and accept ALL other religions.

also, what Hippie said, you can pray anywhere, anytime you want (in your mind etc). You don't have to rub off your beliefs on someone, cause I sure don't like it when people try to rub off there beliefs on me sometime.
