Well... it's not a debate forum so I won't share my comments of insight on it... but I do believe there's atleast one member here who is a follower of Scientology. I think I saw them post once.

you are right, and i'm not up for a debate. (i dont do it very well!) i just wanted to know if anyone was a member. its a yes or no question. with 72 views and only your response, i'm not sure if anyone wants to respond or if they are affraid if they respond there will be repurcussions. ??
there was a story about them on nightline last night and i wanted to know if anyone was a member or knew anything about them. i would not discuss any issues, personal or otherwise here. if i wanted more info, i would talk to that person thru emails or pms.

I moved this to the Religion forum. It is fine to discuss things here. Not debate...discuss.
That said, I know very little about Scientology.

I couldn't agree with you more. It seems like alot of the "stars" you hear about that are into it or promote it are "fruity". Take Tom Cruise. The past 10 years he has gotten fruitier by the year. Not sure when he joined but.......

That being said (and I agree with Tom Cruise's grasp on his sanity slipping), there are other stars that seem to be saner/better adjusted/whatever. John Travolta and Kelly Preston, Lisa Marie Presley, Kristie Alley and Jason Lee are all followers. While these celebrities may have their quirks, I question their mental status less than I do Tom Cruise. That being said, I know little to nothing about their beliefs or practices other than what I've heard on tv and/or news reports.

This is their official website.
http://www.scientology.org/home.html
I personally dont know anyone involved, but I doubt they're any more "cult like" then any other organized religion.
Maybe if you cant find the answers to your questions you can email them to find out?

I agree with the horse crap assesment. Jett Travolta might still be alive if his parents weren't Scientology believers. The kid never got any help and meds and died because Scientology denies autism exists and many autistic kids have seizure disorders.
Any so called religion that says mental illness is not real and has members sign legal waivers before partaking in any of their services is a little wonky and suspect in my book.
