You also need to research... outside of the bible and christian websites.
Anarchy is the source for religion. Anarchy has given us better music and art too. Haven't you noticed that most religion is at least 500 years behind the normal expectations of society?

I must remind you, janelle, if a few men didn't decide it was okay for you to speak of god to anyone other than your husband-- and only at home, out of earshot-- you wouldn't even be reading this forum, and you'd be forbidden to post on it.

As an atheist, I am VERY proud to boast my morals are much, much higher than any believer. No violence, no death penalty, no war, only well wishes to my human brethren.

I will paraphrase the famed Rabbi Hillel theist who said on understanding the Torah, "Anything you don't want to happen to you, don't do to your neighbor. The rest of the text is just commentary."

Look him up when you get a chance. You won't be sinning by reading a Jew's words, so no prayer is necessary..

LOL, we read the Old Testament each Sunday at Mass so we are reading Jewish words all the time. By the way, Jesus was Jewish. My religion is based on the Jewish religion.

I can't understand most of your post. Sorry.

Anyway, IMO abolishing religion would be impossible. Look at Farrah Fawcett and how a person turns to God and their faith when they are in need. Millions around the world do the same thing each day. Religion is here to stay just like it has been here from the very beginning.

Funny how these people come here (we may already know them... hint hint, two already in this thread alone ! And, they BOTH just 'happen to' agree...LOL), and, their first posts are about abolishing religion...lol

Smells fishy to me !

K... I'm done...

I have no real experience of military enlistment. If you'd like to serve your country, military can offer many many options, including careers, but religion can't offer anything close. Yet, why are religion and military so linked? Is it due to the fact that both require taking orders from people you may never see or hear and never questioning them?

Thinking of them separately, military service and training gives you serious discipline.
Waaaaaaay different and much more beneficial than any religion.

Religion? You know where I've recently classified religion? A fetish. Plain and simple.
It makes us FEEL good, like swinging, polygamy, feet, S&M, cutting, what have you, 'cept there's plenty more brothels (churches) where you can talk about your personal experience with god. In LA, there's PLENTY of fetish churches (brothels, dom houses) where you can share your personal experience with whips, chains, stockades, etc.

Hmmmm..... and I've got nothing planned this weekend....

I do not reply in this forum very much. However, when you are calling churches: brothels, are you for real????

There will always be religion of one kind or another. It gives people hope and helps people in there day to day lives. I for one don't want to live in a world where people believe everything is alright. So do it. No hesitation at all. No thinking about how it will affect someone else. Religion is a good thing till someone corrupts it and uses it for their own selfish reasons. Then it can be bad.

Even if our founding fathers were not religious, which I disagree, they obviously saw the importance and need in it and freedom of religion for those who did not. That being said, I believe they were religious or the word God would not have been written into our countrys doctrins.
