I have never understood---I am spiritual but not religious

The definitions are about the same. ???

Spirituality - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Spirituality, in a narrow sense, concerns itself with matters of the spirit, a concept closely tied to religious belief and faith, a transcendent reality, and God. Spiritual matters are thus those matters regarding humankind 's ultimate nature and purpose, not only as material biological organisms, but as beings with a unique relationship to that which is beyond both time and the material world.

Religion - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A religion is a set of beliefs and practices, often centered upon specific supernatural and moral claims about reality , the cosmos , and human nature , and often codified as prayer , ritual , or religious law . Religion also encompasses ancestral or cultural traditions , writings, history, and mythology , as well as personal faith and religious experience

I define myself as spiritual, but not part of an organized religion. Your religion is your set of beliefs, mine just don't happen to coincide with most organized religions

OH, LOL, my SS says that and his dad asks him if he believes in disorganized religion.

I guess the best way is to say you don't belong to any church.

My sister doesn't belong to any church, but she is a part of an organized religion...Baptist. I don't belong to a church, nor am I part of an organized religion.

Talking Religion?

Personally,I like Jesus. He didn't care for "religion" at all.He did, however, have a lot to say about the Spirit.

Jesus went to Temple all the time, He was a Rabbi. Can't get much more religious than that. And Jesus started a religion, so I'm sure Jesus was for religion.

being religious is basically the denomination you practice
like for instance I 'm independent Baptist

being Spiritual is your daily walk with the Lord and what's in your heart daily about him and your personal walk with him

To me being spiritual is about my personal relationship with God and religion is just a name you put on what you believe in. I hope that makes sense. I don't consider myself a religious person. I don't belong to a church although I used to but as some of you I don't like organized religion. I don't follow a certain set of rules and I don't go to church on Sundays. I don't pray at mealtime. It's not that I don't believe in it but a lot of times I just don't think of it. I do talk to God throughout the day so I think he knows I'm thankful for the food even if I don't thank him at each meal. lol God knows our hearts.

Jesus founded a Church & that Church is today The Roman Catholic religion - so yes I'd say Jesus was all about Religion.

Couldn't have said it better myself Janelle
