To Search For Valid Threads
Okay, since the search function does NOT work (yes, we know it doesn't work, and have talked to Alex. There is nothing more we can do) please use these instructions to find if the program has been posted. Also, use it to make sure you are signing up under the valid thread. (Is is the responsiblilty of the person signing up, to make sure the thread is correct. It will also save lost referrals should the invalid thread be locked.)
1. Scroll to the bottom of the thread listing. You will find 3 drop down menu's.
2. In the first menu, click on "Sort by: Thread Title".
3. In the second menu, click on "Sort by: Ascending" or "Decending" depending on where the progam would fall alphabetically. Ascending will list all threads from A-Z. Decending will list all threads from Z-A.
4. In the last menu, click on "Last 10 Days". This will ONLY pull up the threads that have been active in the last 10 days. There will be less threads to sort through to find the valid ones this way.
5. Now, click on Go!
Once you click Go, all threads for the last 10 days will be listed, in aphabetical order. You can now scan through the pages, to find the program you are looking for. If it's not there, you can start a new thread. If there are more than one listed, then please check each thread that is listed to find the valid thread. Please use that one.
**On a side note: I know there has been a lot of trouble lately. I have seen, just this morning, posts about how we do not moderate the threads properly or simply do not care. You are right in the first instance unfortunately. We do not have the time to look through every thread in every forum of BBS. I will gladly try and fix threads, stop them before the problem gets too out of hand, or even edit these personal attacks that are happening continually. I just need to know where the problem is If you want to report the thread, or even PM mom2 or myself, that would be excellent. Please remember though that we are not online at all times, and give us adequate time to receive the message

so are you saying that this new rule overrules this one?
6) If a thread/program has not has a response in the past 5 days a brand new thread can be started. (Example, today is the 1st you may create a new thread anytime after 12 am EST on the 6th .)
so if a tread that is dead by this rule has to be used to sign up even though someone want to use another dead thread to do so?

What are you meaning by "dead thread"? The way Katt shows how to do this, any thread older than 5 days, won't be shown. Isn't 5 days already the rule?

I'm not sure where the confusion is, but if you look at Katt's #4, it says to list all threads within the last 5 days. If a thread comes up, then it's still within the 5-day rule. If a thread doesn't, that means the 5 days is past, and you can start a new thread for whatever program you were looking for.
HTH some.

That's what I was saying...
If I post at 3:14 then it will show up on a 5
day search until 3:14 on the 5th day.
Until 3:14 it's my thread.
At 3:15 it's anyones...
This is great in my opinion!!!
No confusion...
No excuses!
Now if everyone will read this...LOL!

I'm not sure where you're coming up with these times.
The rule is just after midnight on the 6th day, not at a specific "time".

back to 12:20 5 days ago...If I'm wrong...I wish someone
would clarify...

the search is just to assist you find a thread and apparently it is not working correctly because your thread was dead at midnight 1/30 all threads die at midnight of the 6th day no matter what time they were last responded to

Guys come on. You are making this harder than it needs to be. This "search" does not replace any rules. It's simply a new way to search. Just like the old search, it pulls up the threads...this way just pulls up the most current ones, so you don't have to search through tons of threads. It doesn't mean that no one has to check dates from the last reply anymore.
If it makes it easier for everyone, search for the last 10 days, then weed out the invalid ones. I was just trying to make it more simple, since everyone was griping about the search.
I've sent the link to mom2jal. Whatever she says, goes. All this "dead thread" stuff has me major confused and I have a Physiology test to study for. lol That has me confused enough.

The rule is still that the thread expires at midnight EST on the 5th day. If we start going by whatever time the thread was posted it gets too confusing for people in different time zones and becomes way too much work for us to figure out. I'm not sure how the search works timewise so if it's a problem then just search the past 10 days. You will still get fewer results than if you searched the past month and you can be sure nobody gets skipped and no toes get stepped on.

OK let me play devils advocate . Forgetting exact times if we go day by day from the first of the month this could be a posting schedule:
1-6 / 2-7 / 3-8 / 4-9 / 5-10 / 6-11 / 7-12 / 8-13
9-14 / 10-15 / 11-16 / 12-17 / 13-18 / 14-19 / 15-20 / 16-21
17-22 / 18-23 / 19-24 / 20-25 / 21-26 / 22-27 / 23-28 / 24-29
25-30 / 26-31 / 27-1 / 28-2 / 29-3 / 30-4 / 31-5
OR
25-30 / 26-1 / 27-2 / 28-3 / 29-4 / 30-5 / 31-6
If we post on the first, we can't repost until the sixth and so forth.
