I spell it "Momma" and my inlaws and hubby spell it "Mama". They pick on me telling me I don't know how to spell:p How does everyone else spell it? Surely I'm not the only one that spells it like I do......am I? :confused:

I think both are acceptable...I call my mom, "Mum" or "Ma." :)
and when you think of it logically, doesn't 'your' way make more sense? "Momma" being a deriviative of "Mommy".... you wouldn't spell it "Mamy," right? lol ;) Tell them you're right cuz I said so! ;)

Actually it came from the word "ma~ma used in the old south referring to Grandmothers or Maw-Maw's
