    Storm took my XP

Hello, I'm back!!!!! Well it's been a weird few months but the biggest thing is during the terrible round of storms we had a couple months ago my old XP was hit by a power surge. Lights were flashing on and off, then a pop from the room in the basement where my poor XP lived (TV is in the basement)(yes we have only 1 TV), it was off but attached to an old power strip. I was pretty sure it was toast but turned it on any way and it wanted to come up in safe mode, well that didn't work so I was going to restore to original settings (2004), when it gave me the option for dial up I just stopped. Everything was lost, I didn't know many of my passwords and the e-mail addresses attached to them had long expired so if I was going to start over it would be with a new computer. This was harder to upgrade then giving up my original RAZR flip phone for a smart phone last year (I still can't use it right). We did finally get cable out here in the sticks so all my excuses for upgrading were gone (cable modem yea, no more DSL), so here I am with Windows 10, a keyboard I'm going to have to replace and a funky mouse I have to remember to turn off because it runs on batteries. I'm pretty sure they give you cheap key boards where the space bar doesn't work well so you have to get another one. Any way so I don't bore you to tears and don't want to get frustrated enough to smash this keyboard before I get a new one I will stop now. Just wanted everyone to know I hadn't abandoned the board, I'm glad so many are checking in, we can bring this back to the forum we all knew and loved. I will get this setup right so I don't see so many ad's, what the heck is with that!!! BTW it's a desk top, I haven't upgraded to a lap top yet. So between that and my mom turning 90 this month, amazing. June should be a great month.

What state are you in, with so many storms? Glad things are working out for you now, and Happy Bday to your mom! She's just gettin' started!

I'm on a desktop too....call me an old fogie, I don't care. I like it better than laptops.

We live in central IL and there were several days where storms just came up from the south and hit us every time, I guess we were just lucky. Flooding, was a real problem. We are back to sunshine now.
