    I'm trying to decide---

Which gift would you rather get for Christmas? A GC for a big shopping center with lots of stores and restaurants to spend it in or just the money? Money can be spent anywhere or would you rather shop the stores, etc?

If I get money I'm going to do something stupid with it like pay bills. (lol).

GC's can be saved and used only for what you intended them to be used for.

    Cash - it never expires!

Never have to worry if a local store is closing its doors on a moments notice either.

I used to hate giving cash felt like it lacked creativity on my part. I was swayed by the idea that what you are doing is giving the person freedom to choose and I try to be creative in my presentation. Here are some ideas. http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf55971144.tip.html
I once found a bag of shredded money - a souviner from a tourist trip to a federal mint. I taped an envelope with cash in the bottom of a gift bag, put the shredded money in original packaging stating that there was "at least $1000" ... and a roll of tape. My nephew LOVED it.... once he found the intact $20 bill. He regifted the rest ... and the joke is ongoing.

WOW, that is too cute. I guess money is the winner. My hubby and sister was right, money is always welcome.
