If you have a lucky bamboo then scroll down to the bottom where it has tips. I'm thinking if water is laying in there all the time then it probably got stagnated. Stagnated water can really stink. My daughter had flowers sitting in a vase of water once and I walked in her room and it almost knocked me over. It was the water in the vase that stank so bad.

I bought one of these plants for a girlfriend when she first opened her business 3 years ago. It is planted in a plant gel. You do know you have to transplant it into a larger pot with soil....right?? Anyway her plant is now almost 6 feet tall.

Flower shop should carry it - ACE or a good hardware store as well,

My friend planted hers in regular potting soil.

they are a plant and need to go in soil. After all, plants don't live in the rocks.

I have several older bamboo plants and I just repot with pretty rocks from the dollar store and clear vases and WATER, they have never had soil and they thrive.
